That’s quite a diagnosis there…and all from a guy that’s not a Doc or having benefit of the examination of his patient. Actually when it comes to all the English stuff…let me break the rules and enter chickenshit territory. ( English is not my first language ) . I think the saying “appears to be able to read at a 6th grade level” is not the same thing as appears not able to read above a 6th grade level ( in English that is ) which is what I think was meant. The phrase “though by no means eloquent” is not eloquent…as it shroud be ‘eloquently’.
But what the fuck is all this shit? You know why TPM and everyone has has editors…because we all do this shit. ALL of us. And in both my examples above I knew exactly what was being said. Rule number one in speech class is criticize the message or content and not the delivery ( unless its Macbeth or Death of a Salesman ) .
Doucheborough should watch Rachel Maddow’s show and he would be much more informed as to what an incompetent “speaker” McCarthy will be.
The clips she played from his foreign policy speech were appalling.
it’s so revealing that scarbro never uses hayes or maddow segments on that program. and he clearly hates lawrence odonnell. he’s such a deceitful prick. and now it’s gonna be 4 hours daily of gop programming… (well, 5 when andrea greenspan is included).
Should we hope McCarthy does become speaker, just for how much more the House would be screwed up? From that and the other McCarthy interview I saw, it’s amazing this guy can tie his own shoes let alone run the House.
@Ralph_VonHolst: The “Band on America” speech was grammatically incoherent. I did watch the clips of the other show where he made the Hillary Clinton claim and indeed he was more coherent.
Whether this is a learning disability or not I don’t know. The deficits in the speech were marked and very odd. I don’t know about the wisdom of having such a person as Speaker of the House.
Minimally, some truthful explanation for the incoherence of the “Band on America” speech should be provided to the American people. Ideally, if there are learning or other recognized disabilities involved, a full disclosure should be provided to the American people so that they can assess his statements and intent in the the proper context of his disability or ability.
If political correctness were to be set aside, I think that if the Speaker was unable to construe and interpret sentences in the law or understand plain language, it would be a serious impediment to doing his job.
I really am troubled after hearing that Band on America speech by Kevin McCarthy, the presumed frontrunner.
