Not sure, but I think that what you mean by “stealing” here is using tax money to pay for things you don’t like. For example, lots of pacifists don’t want to pay taxes to support what is called “defense” and could just as legitimately call their tax bill “theft.” In turn, you might argue that there is a constitutional mandate to provide for the common defense, just as someone like me would argue that promoting the general welfare is just as valid. Everybody has to pay for things that don’t benefit themselves.
It is totally bogus to call progressive taxation “theft.” Are you even aware that income taxes were only paid by the rich prior to World War 2? Since that time the burden has been shifted to lower and lower incomes whilst the breaks go more and more to the rich. After I retired and started living off of unearned income it was quite a shock to see how small my tax burden was relative to people who actually worked for their money. There is absolutely no reason to feel sorry for rich people.
It does not seem to be happening. I can offer a theory as to why the focus is almost entirely on Russia. Regardless of how well Clinton did in the popular vote, the fact is that it’s beyond shameful that their candidate even faced competition from the likes of Trump. Just like Trump feels the need to save face by saying that pop. vote was stolen, the Dems, who had a lot more credibility to lose, need to save face in the wake of utter humiliation by making a similar accusation.
The Democrats want and need total vindication in the form of the invalidation of the Trump campaign to be taken seriously next time they proffer a candidate. This has the very useful side-effect of harrying the WH to the point of near nonfunction, but is also distracting everyone else in ways that may not be constructive. Part of the danger is that the DNC seems to believe that they will get the credit and receive adulation for ousting Trump, if they can do it; and it seems like that is their only plan going forward for convincing anybody of anything.
I believe that the election was stolen, but by the EC. The one stated theoretical purpose they serve is to prevent this sort of a result; Trump’s unfitness for office is not open to subjectivity. So the EC is guilty of malfeasance at best, like the Senate GOP is, or the institution must be found unconstitutional, which it cannot be, because of the malfeasance of the Senate. And so the Democrats don’t even bother to bring it up, despite the obvious need for the sort of serious institutional reforms that ought to be their brightest banner. Campaign finance, gerrymandering, the EC and justice system…In this way, Dems could set their sights on the parts of “the establishment” that are actually harmful to the country, and net some real street cred. Young people don’t take for granted that we are stuck with all the dumb systems we have, and if they are given a fight to fight, they will do so for as long as it’s cool – and disruption never goes out of style.
More lies and insults from Hannity. He can’t do any better. Boo hoo…
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard Joe and his group on “The Late Show.” I really liked the song and their performance. As for Hannity, his life could be a case study in propaganda puppetry.
fuck both of them.
Touched a nerve I guess. I will never understand Trump, O’Reilly or whomever’s obsession with ratings. It means money, sure, but it does not make one right. Just means you one way or another got more people to watch you or listen.
Some pretty brain dead reality shows have gotten very high ratings. Does not mean they are a good way for society to do things.
Nice try. You just miraculously vomit up the same talking points.
Progressive taxation is not in any way “stealing” but the core concept in Adam Smith’s seminal work “Wealth of Nations”, which is considered to be the foundation of capitalism and the free market system.
For example, as much as a prick Henry Ford was, he was at least bright enough to understand he had to pay enough so workers could afford to buy a Ford truck or car.
To say nothing about social issues beyond simply economics.
