Jimmy hit it right on the head. Pneumonia-gate was a yuge, bigly, joke.
I don’t much care for Jimmy Fallon. Am I alone here?
Not alone. But I have never really cared for most of the network late-nighters. Carson and Letterman were almost always good. FWIW, these guys always have to be mindful of not alienating half of their target audience.
On the other hand, because they were on cable and could pretty much say anything (and I think they were way smarter), Stewart and Colbert were in another league completely. Since Colbert moved to The Late Show, he has intermittently tried to play both sides of the fence, but it’s really forced.
I’ve set this to record, may delete it. Poor Clinton. Has to act like she’s having a good time with this asshole during this unfunny bit…
I’m neutral, but the helpful part may be that he’s very popular with millennials.
Nice to be able to show HRC with an intelligent sense of humor, and not messed up hair.
So Trump gets his hair ruffled like he’s just another normal dude, trying to make his country great again.
Hillary gets one of her biggest negatives thrown in her face.
Yeah, I’m being oversensitive and overreacting. But I’m still pissed at Fallon for making giggle-time with our would-be fascist overlord.
He occasionally has bits that I’ve enjoyed, but overall I get very tired of his “OMG, it’s so amazing I get hang out with all these cool celebs, I’m so lucky!” act. And yet I understand that that false modesty is the exact thing that makes him so popular, so what do I know.
If you want Carrot Top prop humor go to Vegas. Fallon is as groan-worthy as the Golden Girls Maude knock-off he replaced.
I suppose you just described all of Fallon’s guests
You’re not kidding. Fallon is a hack. So is Myers. It’s almost heartbreaking to watch Colbert. I loved…LOVED…him on the Colbert Report. What he is now, having to play the middle of the road, has completely emasculated him. Noah finds ways to ruin The Daily Show. Kimmel is okay. The greatest of them all, Conan, is buried on TBS. It’s over-saturated, and a sad state of affairs.
I’m somewhat wistful about this too. But on the other hand, we aren’t beholden to a couple points of view during the late tv hours as we used to be.
Very skillful. When on her game, no one can bring the focus Hillary can. She seemed relatable, serious and yet affable. I believe that these chat show appearances reach people more widely and effectively than do tv commercials, or questioning from alleged “journalists” whom the public for the most part tunes out. She’s back.
I’ve only watched Fallon when the president’s been a guest and they’ve done that slow jamming the news thing. Those were fun because the president is fun guy. Clinton’s a serious woman who’s trying to take on the most unserious candidate we’ve ever seen, and this is how little Fallon, who’s got a serious drinking problem if you didn’t already know, thinks of her.
Yeah I read about that. Sad story. I wonder if he hates himself because he’s so unfunny.
If John Oliver was given a nightly, topical show on some outlet that could give a flying f**k about social niceties and audience share I’d have to adjust my sleep pattern. That or DVR them all and binge watch on the weekend. He’s more interesting and funny in 15 minutes than all the hours of all the others combined.
A tippy-cup or a nipple fixes that usually.
Agreed on Oliver. Also, treat yourself to Samantha Bee. Monday nights, 10 PM on TBS. She’s taken the weeknight political satire torch from Stewart. She’s great.
I haven’t really been impressed with any female comedians since Belle Barth.
I have stopped watching late night since all the Talk show hosts have depended on Trump as their raison d’etre.
I miss JonStewart and ColbertReport.
