The notion of seeking “bipartisan solutions” is appalling when those with whom you seek those solutions will readily accept what they want but not give anything in return for it.

Webb beat Allen for his Senate seat… when was he an Allen supporter?
Webb’s only obvious constituency of Appalachian whites is not nearly enough to get him the Dem nomination, and that constituency is pretty well nailed down by the GOP anyhow in a general election. His comments about the rebel flag guarantees a lethal lack of support by African Americans and non-racist whites, his derogatory stance regarding women in combat will alienate many women, and it’s well-known that he hates fundraising. In my opinion, this “campaign” is simply a grifting operation.
“The latest Federal Election Commission report, which covers the period up to Nov. 24, shows the Born Fighting PAC has only $69,391.84 of the nearly $1 million it received left on hand. The committee spent about $900,000 from 2006 through last month. Of this, the records show that, over the years, just $200,027.04 of the money donated to the PAC went to political candidates and groups. In other words, Webb’s committee used only about 20% of the money it spent to support its stated mission.”
