Gang that covers up for rapists suddenly backs away from one of their own rapists.
Cute.
Must be hurting the profits.
The president of Georgetown Prep, the Rev. James R. Van Dyke, has said
the controversy over Fordās accusations has compelled the school to
āevaluate our school cultureā and redouble efforts to help students
develop a healthy understanding of masculinity.
Iām glad someone whoās in a position to matter, recognizes the searing indictment of segregated private education that this whole sorry episode has become. Iām more convinced than ever that the drunken debauchery and rampant hookup culture I kept hearing about but never experienced, was concentrated in the private schools. The Judge himself tried to explain away his slut-shaming yearbook with a Fast Times at Ridgemont High reference, for crying out loud. I bet the screenwriters went to private school. Likewise for the authors of this whole breathless genre of whatās-wrong-with-kids-today hookup culture.
āFor the good of the country and the future credibility of the Supreme Court in a world that is finally learning to take reports of harassment, assault and abuse seriously, it is time to find a nominee whose confirmation will not repudiate that lesson,ā the editors wrote.
And let us not even mention the exhibition of petulant, enraged entitlement, the unhinged hysteria of an unmasked bully and psychopath. The absolute proof that he will not be a neutral judge on the SCOTUS, that he is absolutely devoid of any semblance of Judicial temperament, that he insulted Senator Amy Klobuchar while also lying that he has never had a drinking issue. That he could have out done Bette Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Lets not mention that.
Hypocrisy is more banal than ever, but how do so many shitty laws and bad rulings come from the same white-bread, private, prep-school corridor where alcohol and drug fueled hookup culture is rampant?
One of the few positives I took away from my time as a Catholic was my Jesuit education and their focus on critical thought ā it was actually that teaching which made me examine my relationship with the Church as a whole and decide it was not for me. Go Jezzies!
ā¦to help students develop a healthy understanding of masculinity.
And drinking underage and to excess.
When I first read about this, I wondered what it was that inspired the editors of America to endorse Kavanaugh in the first place. Was it his relentless pursuit of Vince Fosterās killer and the Clenis? Maybe they really liked the Bush-era torture memos, or the way he finessed the theft of the Democratsā emails? Perhaps they were enchanted by the way he let that pregnant Mexican teen twist in the wind while he played parental consent games. Iāll bet they cheered when he characterized contraceptives as abortion-inducing drugs . But, most of all, it was probably the āJesuiticalā way he parsed Roe v. Wade as settled law that sent a tingle up the clerical legs of the editors. I hope no one is impressed by the faux courage the magazine showed when they un-endorsed the guy.
A very interesting contribution. Canāt help noticing that the the President of Georgetown Prep wants to encourage respect for āwomen and other marginalized personsā. If this is the way he views more than half of humanity, heās really got some work to do.
Iām sure the majority of female priests would disagree with you. Ohā¦waitā¦those would be Episcopalians.
The president of Georgetown Prep, the Rev. James R. Van Dyke, has
said the controversy over Fordās accusations has compelled the school to
āevaluate our school cultureā and redouble efforts to help students
develop a healthy understanding of masculinity.āAnd it is a time
to talk with them honestly and even bluntly about what respect for
others, especially respect for women and other marginalized people means
in very practical terms_in actions and in words,ā Van Dyke wrote to the
school community Sept. 20.
Fsck you, you sanctimonious assh*le. It was time to do that 35 years ago when your school turned a blind eye to a culture of drunkenness and to the sexual shaming of women. Faculty members vetted those yearbook pages. The whole damn faculty read them. You donāt need to re-evaluate, you need to declare moral bankruptcy, and start over from the bottom.
Kava-naught and Snake-in-the-Grassley both showed themselves to be such whining drama queens they might as well walk off hand-in-hand into the sunset, or in any direction as long as itās away from the US Capitol and the Supreme Court.
And as for Roe, whatās up with these idiotic priests citing ātextualismā? I think a finding that the govāt has insufficient compelling interest in the outcome of first or second trimester pregnancies to violate a womanās privacy is the veritable apex of conservatism. Isnāt their whole schtick that the govāt should just leave people alone? Their so-called principles are nowhere in sight when the subject is a woman, though, this weekās events have shown how thoroughly that āprincipleā pervades their entire rotten ācultureā.
I wonder, if these guys know something will pop up ?
nailed it
Closing the barn doors after the horse has escaped, but better late than never.
Are you saying women arenāt marginalized?
You know somethingās really up when the Jesuits think youāre too toxic to touch. And this will really bother Kavanaugh so itās something to make me glad on this dismal day.
@jhand That said, I donāt think Kavanaugh has the brains to be ājesuitical.ā No matter what else might be said, those guys know how to think, and Kavanaughās functioning brain cells Iād guess are very lonely in his head.
And what role will Graham play in this feel good movie of the summer?
To bad the Jesuits didnāt tell Kavanaughās parents that his drinking was killing off brain cells, cell he might need to use in the future.
The closeted groundskeeper with the Tilly hat at the exclusive all-white golf club, of course!
