Fortunately for Simpson his defense team had ties to the corporate world and to the media. Add to that an overconfident prosecutor in Marcia Clarke who misread the sympathies of the jury she had a part in selecting. I won’t even touch on TV personality Lance Ito and showboating Johnnie Cochran doing what he did best.
Maybe in the top 100, but Doug Feith still reigns supreme.
As a Black man who also happens to be gay, I’d like to apologize for Don Lemon.
I cannot fathom how an educated man, with so much obvious adversity based on his very existence, can be so maddeningly stupid.
Don Lemon is either mentally slow, angling for a gig on Fox News, or both.
Don Lemon, sheesh - I want to like the guy, but he clearly isn’t very bright.
How is Don Lemon still employed and on TV? Is that how low CNN has dropped in responsible journalism. He is an embarrassment to journalism, to professionalism.
Heh, no apology needed; clueless careerism knows no race or sexual orientation.
Lemon is a moron who needs much, much more extended public on-air humiliation for his imbecility.
*** the bad doers***
damn, this guy is stupider than w.
it’s just astonishing how ignorant he is; you’d think at the very least cnn would be embarrassed by this point.
Don Lemon is a complete buffoon. I can no longer even watch him. He either blames Trayvon Martin for getting shot because he wore a hoodie or he blames the rape victims because they didn’t resist strongly enough. Or he blames a black hole for the Malaysian airlines disappearance. A complete clown.
There are a couple of excellent articles on vox.com concerning Ferguson grand jury decision, and what was learned from the transcripts.
His behavior speaks to this matter of “journalists” reading the news on TV – news written by copy editors behind the scenes. They’re journalists like I’m an astronaut.
Years back a friend did his Masters in Journalism at UCLA. (They have since dropped the program.)
I recall him having to read volumes of political and social history of the US along with books on geopolitics. He had some heavy reading assignments.
I doubt if Lemon ever heard of, say, the Tulsa riot, or the Newark riot and maybe even the Rodney King riot.
He’s intellectually a high school boy reading tripe written for him by other idiots.
“There is a body of people who after a long train of abuses, Don, people simply explode”
That is very much true. No argument there. A few people, however, probably just like breaking shit and this is a great opportunity to do so, as they’ll be mixed in with, and impossible to distinguish from, those who are genuinely angry.
There’s something for everyone in Ferguson!
I just avoid televised news in general. I can’t control the topic, and I can’t control the rate at which they feed me information.
It is very difficult to hold the public’s attention, to force them to see what is happening around them. Dr. King did it by forcing the police to repeatedly demonstrate their violent behavior in front of the cameras, to arrest and jail people who committed no crime other than exercising free speech rights, and by never stopping as long as the need was there. Not everyone is Dr. King. Ordinary citizens sometimes have to commit violence to keep the publics attention.
If this isn’t acceptable to the public, they need to put pressure on their own governments to stop the police violence. What the prosecutor did yesterday was so wrong in so many ways, nothing was left for the public to do but answer violence with more violence. I just wish some of that violence had been focused on the prosecutor.
Compounded injustice leads to anarchy and justice leads to peace. The story of the American Revolution.
Has to be said…
Might be time for Don Lemon to turn in his blackness card. It’s actually probably long overdue.
If someone as white as me can get the difference between CONDONING violence like last night, and UNDERSTANDING violence like last night and what leads to it…why is it so damn hard for Don Lemon?
It also most definitely did not go in front of our legal and judicial process. When someone is accused of a crime it isn’t a part of our legal or judicial process to have a grand jury determine if that person is guilty or not. And, it isn’t the job of a prosecutor to turn over his job to a leaderless grand jury, while flooding them with unorganized “evidence” with no help in analyzing it, then making them decide by popular vote if someone committed a crime. That prosecutor committed fraud by doing this, something that was expected, since he has never once prosecuted a cop for a crime. His father was a cop, and in his mind no cop has ever been guilty of a crime.
MLK said, “I contend that the cry of ‘black power’ is, at bottom, a reaction to the reluctance of white power to make the kind of changes necessary to make justice a reality for the Negro. I think that we’ve got to see that a riot is the language of the unheard.”
Do you really think anyone is listening to President Obama these days? We’ve moved beyond the “pull-your-pants-up” admonishments.
Don Lemon is classic! He’s just cruises on being superficially glib, as do most TV broadcast “journalists.”
