Okay. lemme get this straight. It is treason for employees of a U.S. federal law enforcement agency to "spy"on a U.S. presidential CAMPAIGN. In particular when the U.S. law enforcement agency has reason to believe that said campaign made contacts with a hostile foreign power.
But it isn't treason for member of U.S. presidential campaign to solicit and coordinate with a nominee of a foreign hostile power, or in any other indirect manner engage in the aforementioned with a foreign hostile power.
The definition for treason is: the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the sovereign or government.
The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA, Pub.L. 92–225, 86 Stat. 3, enacted February 7, 1972, 52 U.S.C. § 30101 et seq.) prohibits" An individual who is not a citizen of the United States or a national of the United States and has not been lawfully admitted to the
U.S. for permanent residence, as defined in 8 U.S.C. § 1101(a)(20); or a foreign principal, as defined in 22 U.S.C. § 611(b).
Now that ain't treason. Article 3 Section 3 of the U.S.Constitution authorizes congress to create the crime of treason and strictly limits it definition and application. 18 U.S. Code § 2381 governs treason. Again, not treason.
But if in Trump's opinion, the definition of treason is so loosey and capacious, why isn't what his campaign did violations of FECA?
