Discussion: Jeff Bezos Replaces WaPo Publisher With Politico Co-Founder

So, is this the super rich dude way of lobbying - cut out the middleman? Just send WaPo your releases, and they’ll run them verbatim on the national stage? From now on lobbying comes with a complementary ball washing.

This is pathetic… and WaPo just suckered me in to get a subscription… adios, MF… Ryan is a hardcore Reaganite.

Reverse the credit card charge, on the grounds they fraudulently sucked you in.

the Times, the Examiner, and now the Post…DC continues to be misrepresented.

Goes perfectly with the House of Misrepresentatives.

“She’ll be replaced by Frederick J. Ryan, the founding CEO of Politico and a former Reagan administration official.”

any doubts as to where this is going?

Well, it’s not as though Weymouth was any big liberal. But still, this is so damn obvious. WaPo goes from mealy-mouthed middle-of-the-road to full bore business Republican.

I’ll re-subscribe when Bezos and Ryan can start delivering the paper daily by drone.

WaPo . . . . . the Fox News of newspapers. Just a matter of time before the opinion page looks like the WSJ opinion page. Don’t read that rag anymore, either.

It’s times like this that make me wish I was more of a consumer so
that I could boycott more businesses like his. I’ve never shopped
on Amazon, but I’m adding it to my list anyway just so it’s there
when I share my list with others.

AWESome. I’M GOing to GEt a SECond SUBscrIPTIOn!1!1one!1!1!

The scary thing for a lot of people is the presence of the typical TeaBagg crowd.

Then smug progressives crow that the “demographics” are against the Republican Party. You know…all the young people, single women, minorities, etc… all going to vote Democratic.

The scary thing to ME is the Brainwash…

  • Lots of Millennials are socially liberal but otherwise libertarian

  • Americans are getting more (corporate) miseducated by the
    week

  • History has never been an American pastime

The Republican Gameplan has always been to use up the Confederates, geriatrics, bumpkins and knuckleheads (who will have outvoted everyone born between 1970 to 1990) to get 'em to the decade of the 2020s…when the Corporate MIsinformation Machine will have dead-brained those born between 1990 and 2010.

This WaPO **cker is just another soldier in that Army.

So glad I never paid for access - and now I never will. Another fail for real journalism. All that is left is the internetz.

Pretty much the only thing I read there is ex-TPMer Greg Sargent’s Plum Line blog. You can read articles online for free by stopping the page from loading before it redirects to the subscribe page.

If you want to buy books online, go to Powell’s. It is independent and (after a few skirmishes) treats its employees decently. And if you get to Portland, for heaven sake, go - you can spend a day wandering thru the stacks and get a decent lunch at the cafe. One of the nicest compliments I ever received was, 'Your house smells like Powell’s - coffee and books."

Good idea. Someone also told me to switch your current date/time stamp to another date/year. Semi-working…

Removing any illusions out there amongst all those who still get a woody for Amazon that it’s chief is anything but a conservative and contemporary robber baron in his business leanings.

What do you mean “goes”? They’ve been there for a long time.

They went over to the dark side a while back. Their Op Ed page is pitiful.

I think it’s a pretty sad day for the Washington Post when a myopic beltway outfit like Politico is seriously described as a “competitor.”
