Discussion: Jeb On Pope's Call To Protect Environment: He's 'Not A Scientist'

Discussion for article #241012

Ah Jeb! Another fact-free statement from a Pubbie boob.

Even a cursory review from Wikipedia of all places would have revealed the Pope’s scientific credentials. Yet why bother when the sheeple suck up and believe every word a Republican candidate says?

Arrgghh!

Oh, so you have no problem if numerous scientists want to speak before Congress on the issue?

The GOP keeps trying to open a can of worms they really don’t want opened.

At some point, someone’s going to get a group of scientists together, and ask them about climate change, to see what they have to say.

Oh, wait. They’ve done that already: https://youtu.be/cjuGCJJUGsg

El Jebe you aren’t a scientist either nor are you a Dr or a woman… by your logic doesn’t that disqualify you to speak about climate change, abortion or women’s health?

No, you oil-teat-sucking shitstain, he listens to the scientists. You know, the overwhelming majority of them in consensus, not the measly percentage paid off by the oil companies to manufacture false story lines that you believe use for propaganda.

Oh, this lame excuse for a man is getting on my last goddamned nerve!

The GOTPers aren’t gynecologists or obstetricians but that doesn’t stop them from having unhealthy obsessions with zygotes and women’s whatever’s…er…lady parts…

Here we go again. Why is it that politicians think climate change is a political issue, and there fore only THEY can talk about it? Scientists have studied this for decades but they are out of their league. Jeb hasn’t thought about it at all but he’s an expert? Actually, come to think of it, Jeb isn’t even a politician. He once was, then he became a board of directors seat warmer for 8 years. Lehman Bros. and Barclays. Google those associations and see how they worked out.

Today’s Krugman column is better at addressing this sort of bull than any snappy retort I can come up with.

Why yes, yes he is. What are YOUR qualifications Jeb to speak on climate change?

The former governor then said that to protect the environment and those that live on the earth, lawmakers should focus on aiding economic growth, noting that Pope Francis is “not a scientist, he’s a religious leader.”

Jeb talks about economic growth, but he’s not an economist.
Jeb talks about blacks, but he’s white.
Jeb talks about poverty, but he’s wealthy.
Jeb talks about hard work and earned success…

To you Jeb I say, you are wrong and you are not a scientist.

He’s not a scientist, but you’re a doctor when you decide on who should be able to obtain an abortion.

Except he is a scientist…Masters in Chemistry from before seminary. I think that qualifies far more then Jebby-bob

The logical next step is practically:
“Sure, he’s a scientist, but he’s not a gym teacher.”

He’s not a scientist? What if he was? Then a Good Republican wouldn’t listen to him at all.

Excellent article! Thanks!

Can someone explain why you must be a scientist to say yes to global warming but you can be any yahoo to deny it? Sounds like they’re trying to constrain one side of an argument. From my debate classes I remember that a no no because without the constraints on your opponent you’d get clobbered. So it was like cheating and all.

If you say someone is wrong that mutually includes a claim that you know whats right. You can’t say I’m wrong if you don’t know what is right. So, if the Pope is a not qualified scientist ( he has a Masters Degree in Chemistry ) so he cannot know just how does a Jeb, also no scientist know. ? This is logic 101 stuff.

You don’t have to know shit about warming, science or the Pope. Jeb’ claim mutually states that he’s not qualified to make it.

" he should leave that up to the scientist"…that’s how you do it.
