Discussion: Jeb Hits Trump: Obama Is 'American' And 'A Christian'

They can’t move on from all their repeated tropes because in truth they have nothing of substance to offer. They have no policies that address real issues. The only thing they have are warmed-over diatribes of everything they loathe about this country.

It was plainly unnecessary for John TippyToe Bush the Acronym to comment on this issue because it is not important. John Bush the Acronym should focus on his policies, on finding his wife in debate audiences and on finding Waldo in his reading materials.

Idiocy runs deep in the Bush family tree. Just because he has Palin glasses does not make this Bush any smarter. America cannot afford to have another sleazy, corrupt and amoral Bush.

The fact that Bush seems reasonable in his statement shrinks in the face of the fact that this is even an issue in the party affected by hysterical idiocy.

Keep talking, Repugs.

Sheesh. Just stick to the McCain script where you say he is a loyal American who loves his country and that good people can disagree on the issues. You’ll look presidential and people of all political stripes will think better of you.

Lived in Texas for a lot of years but came back to Arkansas , where I was born, and sarcasm is wrapped in sweet, sweet platitudes.

Obama is nicer and more honorable than all the best traits of the entire GOP field put together.

This is a true act of incompetence by Bush. PPP poll shows that half of Republican voters believe Obama is a Muslim. When he corrects them, he alienates them. There is no upside in talking sense to an electorate that has no sense.

I loved that one. We do need some levity here

So Jeb defends the President in order to take a jab at him.

Better, Bush argues, is the conservative approach, which outlaws disagreement.

I warn you…by commenting on this, you are getting the secret out.

I would have preferred he’d taken it one step further: “Being an American does not mean you are not a terrorist and being Muslim does not mean you are.”

There is really some truth to Donald J Trump’s comment that John Tippytoe Bush the Acronym is low energy. It seems to nicely, craftily and politely describe, articulate and reinforce the astute observations of conservatives regarding the insipidness of John Bush. This “low energy” verbiage would make Roger Ailes, Frank Luntz and any word-smithing comedian proud.

I teach, and John Bush the Acronym’s demeanor and temperament reminds me of some of my students who had their major decided by their dad, mom (and in this case, the dim brother). They show up to class to class with dour faces, low energy and foul temperaments because they were told to.

In this campaign, John Bush the Acronym exhibits the idiocy and ineptness of his brother and father but he is inane and boring and without any of the earthy faux earnestness his brother exuded.

Thanks, Jeb!. We’ll let President Obama know you want an ambassadorship.

Actually, that’d be a good exit strategy for Jeb!. “And so, my fellow Americans, I must reluctantly suspend my campaign and answer my nation’s call to service, even though I totally could have won. I look forward to serving the American people in… Sri Lanka?! Dave, what the hell, I thought you said you could get me Brazil!”

Wait what? Did Bush just say that the PROBLEM with Obama is that he “tears down anybody he disagrees with”??

And he said this with a STRAIGHT FACE?

WTF. You gotta be kidding me.

Had the tables been turned the entire Republican presidential candidates would have taken the same non action trump did.

And just imagine how much it must have stung Jeb! to do that. Jeb! is much like Mittens, in that he would enthusiastically walk across dead bodies without flinching in order to claim the White House and become POTUS. So, it’s no surprise that Jeb! would leverage from any fulcrum in order to attack his primary nemesis. But who knew that Trump would inadvertently stir defense of President Obama’s heritage and faith? Truth can be stranger than fiction.

A friend of mine born in Arkansas but has lived in Texas all her life taught me the nuance of “Bless his heart.” Similar to Ann Richards and “Poor George. He can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.”
