Can’t wait to hear what his Spanish choice of words will be for that term.

And remember, folks, he’s the smart Bush brother.

"No, I didn’t — I don’t, I don’t regret it. No, do you have a better term?” Bush said, according to The Hill, later adding, “You give me a better term and I’ll use it, I’m serious.”

Pressed further, he said, “Here’s the deal, what I said was it’s commonly referred to that, that’s what I said, I didn’t use it as my own language.”

That man can’t get through three words without trying to figure out which way the wind’s blowing.

Here’s a clue - if it comes out of your mouth, it’s your language.

I have a BETTER TERM: “American Citizens”

So if I address him as an asshole cracker…it’s OK because none of that language originates from me? I didn’t coin the phrase fuck you…so I can use it with impunity?

He asks for another term and he’ll use it. How about natural born citizen.

So far, the former Florida governor has resisted the hard right tack taken by some GOP 2016ers — led by Donald Trump — who have called for an end of birthright citizenship, the longstanding practice of granting U.S.-born children citizenship no matter their parents’ legal status.

I’m not happy with the phrase:
The longstanding practice of granting US born children citizenship no matter…

Am I being picky or should the reporter have used the words 2nd amendment? It’s not just a practice, it’s a law.

Edit: that’s 14th not 2nd amendment .
This getting old thing is getting old.:grinning:
Thanks LBG for the heads up.

Every time this douche opens his mouth he sounds like an even more gaffe-tastic doofus.

Careful with that one. Republicans said the same thing when Obama used the N word.

The big news would be “Jeb makes a statement and DOESN’T have to walk it back”. Jebya is a complete disaster. I love it.

Thank you, I wanted to point out the same thing. It isn’t like this is some national tradition not backed by law. It IS the law. The author chose their words poorly…or purposefully. Not sure which.

“birthright citizenship, the longstanding practice of granting U.S.-born children citizenship no matter their parents’ legal status.”

Tierney: I think this kind of language leads to a serious misundertstanding of the situation. It’s just wrong to say that birthright citizenship is a “longstanding practice”, and to suggest that somebody-or-other “grants” citizenship to babies born here.

Citizenship is a consitutional right of all people born in the United States. It’s not something graciously granted, it’s not a grand old tradition. It’s what people born here are. They are citizens, by virtue of the 14 Amendment. It’s said quite plainly and unambiguously.

He’s certainly not in control (or his handlers are scrambling because message is non-existent).

Not presidential material AT ALL.
