Discussion: It's Time For Turkey Get Off The Sidelines To Take On ISIS

Discussion for article #227953

C’mon! TPM…where’s the news of US air strikes against ISIS in Syria overnight? I know HuffPo is reactionary and giggly about 1st to report everything, but TPM’s not even linking wire news to this story is baffling…for many of us, you should the 1st or 2nd go-to news source

There’s been a story here since last night. Click on “All News”

Ummm, Turkey? Sure. How about Saudi Arabia where ISIS finds its’ crazed religious ideology, financial backers, fighters, members of government and Sharia judiciary?

Oooops, forgot, they’re a ‘valued ally’. Never mind, carry on as you were. I’m sure this will all be cleaned up shortly.

They did report on them.

Yup. Turkey, SA and Iran ought to be the lead on this. Of course, I think we also should invade SA, kick everyone out and just take the country over. Either that or we simply tip-toe away and hope that ISIS goes after SA as well. Serve the stupid fuckers right.

Surely, the cheney administration and congress have no complicity in the Turks ambivalence to undeclared wars. It is easily justifiable that they were right to sit out the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

“And so I leave it with all of you: Which came out of the opened door - the lady, or the tiger?”

What an arrogant and near racist article that assumes the the only good Turk is one who does what the Yankee master wants him to. It might be that Turks have a mind and national interests of their own which are not the thoughts and interests dear to Americans.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that NATO membership is in Turkey’s national interest.
