Discussion: 'It's Chaos Out Here': TSA Absences Keep Soaring In 4th Week Of Shutdown

Sounds like the same article that was posted here yesterday.

“We’re confident that we will be as efficient and as welcoming as people expect the city of Atlanta to be here at Hartsfield-Jackson for the Super Bowl”
Well, if you expect that airport to be a gigantic clusterfuck overrun with surly drunks, I’d say the confidence is justified.

The TSA can be the fulcrum that galvanizes public opinion against this farce of a shutdown. Being forced to work without pay will be seen as un-American and unfair, and by forcing the issue collectively they can probably avoid individual consequences to a walkout.

The same could be said for INDIANA.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Eurasia shirtless man on horseback is rubbing his hands together while devilishly saying “MWA-HA-HA”.

And in a few other places around the world, some interesting folks are wondering how many idiots with bombs it would take to make sure a few get through.

Govmint? We don’t need on stinkin’ govmint! Interesting listening to a couple co-workers working on a job for out of the country and one claiming they were lucky they didn’t have to deal with OSHA. Interesting in light of our company about to give everyone jackets embroidered with “3000 Days no lost time accidents”! Some right wing folks bitch about the dumbest fucking things that are actually a benefit to them with little if any costs.

We have a new White House spokesperson in the making folks!

On another note. We have spent years loathing the TSA operation. Now we need them. But this is to process the system that they created and imposed. It may be time to take the opportunity to readdress how the TSA function works, again.

Many people have told Trump they like standing in long lines.

“they come to me, with tears in their eyes, saying ‘Sir, we’ve been hoping for so long that we could have long lines and now you’re making our dreams come true.’ But I won’t embarrass them by talking about it.”

Ugh. I’m flying out tomorrow from ATL. Looks like I need to budget for 4+ hrs from home to gate. Normally I do 1.5 hrs.

My trip would be a 5 hr drive, otherwise.

I hate to complain about 1st world problems, but that douche in the White House is, shall we just say, single handedlyvlowering travel standards.

Start contacting the airlines and ask them to put pressure on the administration to end this nonsense.

When businesses speak up, maybe this corrupt Senators will act.

Meanwhile, Trump’s T-Party friends are crowing. I guess they really got the message when they lost all those house seats…

“It’s inconvenient that they’re not getting paid,” Barry Bennett, a former Trump campaign adviser, said of the furloughed workers. “But it’s for time they’re not even going into the office.”

“Meanwhile, TSA said it would move officers around the country to deal with local shortages.”

Uh, (raises hand) I have a question: How exactly are these TSA workers paying for getting moved around the country? Presumably, TSA picks up the cost of their transportation (presumably…), but how will workers who aren’t being paid afford housing in a place where they don’t live? If workers are calling in sick because they can’t afford gas to get to work, how are they paying for a Motel 6 in Phoenix?

How are they getting food when they can’t bring in leftovers from whatever food they may have at home? Maybe TSA is going to provide food and lodging as well, which would be great, but aren’t they pretty strapped, not being funded and all? Offering per diem and travel reimbursement after the shutdown ends would be pretty useless for most of these workers if they have to come up with money for this right now.

Unsafe.

Republicans are weak on security.

Betcha Gregory is lying. The TSA workers are quitting and will not be back. These TSA workers have lost their child care. If they have not found a new job they had to stop paying for child care and have lost their child’s place. They are essentially back on a waiting list for child care . Without child care and a paying job its time to move in with relatives and start over.

They are all calling Trump and saying their plight is worth it to build the wall.
