Discussion: 'It's Bob's Call': Barr Says He's Not Blocking Mueller Testimony

Would it really be a call or would tweet work just as well?

Issue the subpoena. Mueller will have to obey it unless the DOJ files something in court. Even then, he can ignore what DOJ does.

I imagine Bob can take care of himself:

Getting a little tired of the well deserved criticism he has been getting I see.

Thatā€™s what you get when you forget your actual job and act as the presidentā€™s advocate Bill.

[Comment would be superfluous.]

I understand Mueller is very close to retirement age. If thatā€™s so, Iā€™d love to see him wait his testimony until after his pension is secured. Look what happened to Comey. I donā€™t want to see that again.

Trueā€¦but my guess is that Mueller knows those rules at DoJ probably better than just about anyone else there, including Barr. Barr has created false justifications and made up rationale for what can and canā€™t be divulged not based on any actual guidelines, but on extra-judicial and extra-legal guidance imposed by him and purely to protect trump and his criminal cabal. Mueller will most likely know the difference between those things. If he withholds information because Barr orders him to do so out of a commitment to protect trumpā€™s weak ass, than I think Mueller as a private citizen, and no longer an employee of the executive branch, will be able to share his opinion without fear of retribution by some newly concocted guideline preventing him from doing so under Barrā€™s authority.

Remember, tRump is the guy that took away Andrew McCabeā€™s full pension and fired him one day before his retirement after more than 21 years with the FBI so retribution by this WH is not an uncommon thing when you still work under these assholes.

That Trumpā€™s supposedly veteran supporting, hyper-patriotic, military loving base condones Trumpā€™s disparagement of Meuller, at all, speaks to their moral depravity and situational ethics.

My main point is we want Mueller to testify, both to counter Trumpā€™s attempts at soft peddling and diminishing the importance of his investigation (or even negating it almost entirely), AND to satisfy our own need for affirmation, from the horseā€™s mouth, that Trump is guilty of multiple crimes. If the most damaging parts of his testimony is behind closed doors, and never released to the public, weā€™ll be denied the affirmation we seek. Only if the House makes moves based on Muellerā€™s testimony will we gain some measure of assurance Mueller gutted Trump and left his entrails on the floor.

Unfortunately Nadler will act on the testimony next week. Or July. Or maybe in 2020.

Where is Mueller? Why hasnā€™t he commented publicly about his willingness to testify? I understand that heā€™s a supposed ā€œconsummate professionalā€, but he has a responsibility to address whether heā€™s willing to testify or if heā€™s being constrained.

At some point Bob Mueller needs to step up.

Muellerā€¦? Muellerā€¦? Muellerā€¦?

Kamala Harris and Mazie Hirono already did that, but I wouldnā€™t mind seeing a replay.

Thatā€™s anyone with a high clearance, and itā€™s part (er, at least it was) of our yearly security training. If he leaves DoJ, heā€™ll get read out of the programs that his position required access to, and part of that read out involves the blurb about not divulging any classified, or information about ongoing investigations under penalty of up to 75 years in prison (if Iā€™m recalling my read out correctly).

Yes ā€“ but with such an argument, caution and nuance are advised!

After all, there was nothing admirable about the American invasion and destruction of Vietnam.

Barr Says Heā€™s Not Blocking Mueller Testimony

So, Barr is definitely blocking Muellerā€™s testimony.

Many people seem to think once he retires the gloves are off and he can waltz into a House hearing and regurgitate everything he knows and everything he found out, about everyone and everything, and have it all open to scrutiny by the public. Simply by virtue of being a private citizen. I see or hear no one in a position of authority, Nadler, Schiff, Cummings et al, disabusing the public of this misconception. Dems need to temper expectations in my opinion.

I want almost everything to be done in public. Period. With all witnesses. Enough of this behind closed doors bullshit. The Democratic House and Democratic Senators havenā€™t even received one lick of counter-intelligence information thatā€™s been requested or given any information with regards to their oversight since the beginning of this shitshow. If that has to be behind closed doorsā€¦fine. But the rest should be in publicā€¦and now.

And Junior should be ordered to come in public before the House Judiciary by subpoena no matter what was worked out between Republican Senators manipulating the newest fiasco over his limited testimony. The Senate does not determine what the House can and should do as part of their oversight responsibilities.

Of course not. Thatā€™s the macro view. But Mueller did what was asked of him, heroically, suffered wounds, and went back for more. Question anyoneā€™s wisdom of participating in the war. But I hazard some respect is due those that stood tall in a hail of bullets and had the backs of their fellow soldiers, regardless the politics of the war. Trump cannot muster that respect.

Nadler has requiring Juniorā€™s testimony under consideration. Thereā€™s a meeting scheduled next week to discuss putting it on the agenda the following week, for preliminary exploration of a committee vote in July, but not before consulting with Nancy Pelosi, and the date for that is being coordinated with the Environmental Studies and Prayer Group. One day. In the future. Sometime.

Not exactly. He volunteered.

(As did some others.)

Needless to say.
