Besides Netanyahu’s difficulty in attracting moderate or liberal partners to his Government, Bibi was also requiring anyone willing to serve to agree in his Government to agree to support a law that would make Netanyahu immune from prosecution for his crimes.
Netanyahu preferred to fail to establish a new Government, forcing another round of new elections, than drop his demands for protection from the law.

Yep. I’m aware. Bibi has done such immense damage to Israel and its standing in the world, particularly among American Jews. He’s imprinted the worst aspects of rightwing American politics in Israel imo and the chickens are finally coming home to roost I believe. Let’s hope he’s found guilty on all three charges and faces the maximum penalties.
