Discussion: Iranian President Uses The R-Word To Describe 'Outrageous And Idiotic' Trump

My cousin is a Special Ed Teacher she works with Autistic kids. She told me i couldn’t say the word (a few years back) because it was insulting to the kids. It’s took me awhile to break the habit but, it can be done, i no longer use the word. Good Luck!

It wasn’t negotiated by Obama, so it wasn’t at the top of the list.

I have to disagree. Trump suffers from mental defects, that is obvious in listening to him. “Retarded” is inflammatory and imprecise. But I have no doubt Trump’s mental faculties have failings beyond simply being uninformed and lazy. He may be functionally illiterate. He has a vocabulary you’d expect in a 7th gade schoolchild. He struggles to maintain a train of thought. His reasoning skills display staggering shortcomings. He has scant skill at anticipating how his words will be heard by others, highlighted most recently by effectively claiming there is a certain type of woman he would sexually assault, and E. Jean Carroll is most certainly not that type of woman.

He’s a dunce. Or, as the guys would say in the locker room, one dumb motherfucker.

Odd way to put it. “The record” is that Trump stated he was imposing sanctions on Ayatollah Khomeini. The White House didn’t correct the record. The recorded events are as they occurred. They corrected Trump’s mistake. “The record” will now fail to reflect Trump made that mistake.

Pretty sure the only “R” word he considers an insult is “Receding”.

The “R” word surely was…Republican because every last one if them are narcissistic nincompoops.

There’s some TPM’ers who think “toppling” Iran would be a piece of cake, too.

Hate to leave them out.

My mother was a special-ed teacher, and later became a LDTC, so she used to keep me up on the terminology-- learning disabled became preferred nomenclature @1970. I’m not sure when it switched to ‘differently abled’. The PC speak gets a little awkward, but it’s the right thing.

Not only is the use of “the ‘r’ word” a silly device, what does it mean in the first sentence when the article says the Iranian “dragged President Trump” by calling him names? I’ve never heard that usage before. Is it the newer version of “dissed”?

Good point - however, the announcement itself was videotaped so the White House ‘transcript’ is now at odds with the digital record of trump’s actual announcement.

It must be rapscallion. How rude.

Ahhh, yes. Republican, with a capital dip-shit.

Current correct terminology is “intellectually disabled;” an individual has an “intellectual disability.”

Destroying their military, nuclear sites and most of the government would be quick and relatively painless (for us).

What comes after, less so, as was discovered in Iraq.

Thanks for thinking of me, comrade!

I’m waiting for the day that we finally get rid of “disability” as a term for both physical and mental conditions.

It’s got a very negative connotation, and makes people more reluctant to seek appropriate treatment because of the stigma of labels like that.

Using the R-word is offensive…to people with mental disabilities who still perform at a higher level than Trump.
