as the abominationā€™s re-election prospects look worse the probability of him launching a war get better.

I donā€™t think so because everyone, even the Trump supporters, realize that this was a fight he picked and escalated for no good reason.
What will be finished is the Trump administration when the first flag draped coffins show up at Dover AFB.
No one loves to beat their chest as much as Trump. IMHO, this is what his Iran talk is.

ā€œArrogance is false confidence. It is born from insecurity. Haider pretends to be unafraid. He pretends to be crueler than he is. He lies easily. That makes him unpredictable and, in some ways, a more dangerous opponent. But the majority of the time his actions are inspired by fear. And that makes him weak.ā€

Canā€™t they just find a place to compare penis size and be done with it instead of threatening who knows how many people for no reason at all? The line for this war will be ā€˜I love the smell of testosterone in the morning, especially when Iā€™m sinking in the polls.ā€™ Shrub wanted to outdo papa Bush. Trump wants to outdo the world. Shrub led us into disaster. What Trump may lead us into could be far worse.

Peace in the Middle East, and the world, now depends on Iran exercising heroic and unmoving restraint in the face of repeated and escalating provocations from the U.S.

See, I am less certain that heā€™ll actually go through with this.

Heā€™s a coward ā€“ he even gets other people to do his firing for him because he hasnā€™t the guts to take responsibility himself.

As Commander in Chief, he and he alone will carry the responsibility for it. He canā€™t push that off on underlings when it goes wrong (note: I do not say ā€œifā€ because itā€™s guaranteed to go belly-up ā€“ look at the players).

He cannot stand being forced to take responsibility for anything ā€“ weā€™ve seen this play out again and again and again.

(Now, what we do have to worry about is a false flag kind of operation driven by Bolton and his evil cohortsā€¦thatā€™s more realistic.)

I thought peace in the Middle East depended on Boy Wonder, Jared ā€œFull Metal Jackassā€ Kushner.

The farther they get away from the possibility of a viable Palestinian state the farther they get from peace in the Middle East.

Except that you have to keep in mind who wants this: MBS and Bibi.

Two of his owners.

He might be a fucking coward, but he could still stumble us into war following their instructions.

Iā€™m sure he spoke to one or the other before he launched his attack tweet.

That too.

Trumpā€™s name above a subway station in Jerusalem and on a tower in Riyadh goes a long way in influencing Trumpā€™s foreign policy.

Yes, it would be great if it was only a one issue problem in the ME but the place is a mess from so many directions.

There is no groundswell of support for this. No one has offered to supply troops or any other support.

Europe is scrambling to salvage the Iran nuclear deal.

Saudi Arabiaā€™s incursions in Yemen, and now Libya, would be on full display in any discussion of Iranā€™s ā€œmalign actionsā€ in the region, as will Bibiā€™s goading us into the current debacle.

The only problem is engineering a way to get the US to back off while allowing Trump to save face ā€“ because that is all that he cares about.

Donā€™t forget the promise of Trump Tehran.

The alliteration alone in the name makes it absolutely a must-have.

I hadnā€™t thought of that but, yeah, how is he going to pass that by?

Foreign policy as a protection racketā€”do what I want or Iā€™ll hurt youā€”never works because it requires another sovereign nation to kneel before the ā€œdonā€. Instead, it typically generates more patriotism/nationalism and actually strengthens the other regime.
Of course, when the ā€œdonā€ā€™is a coward and a blow hard it may mitigate the impact, but itā€™s
Still pretty stupid. And this is Dipshitā€™s approach to all matters international. No wonder nothing gets done. No other nation will ever believe or trust him. Ever.
