Like Trump.
No, not his hands. His “achievements”. Small acclaim for other’s hard work.
My recommendation would be to go all Clock Work Orange on Trump, Zinke, and other person in the administration. Strap them in, and make them watch all 10 parts of Ken Burns National Parks documentary.
If you understand nothing about a place, it is easy to devalue it. Which suggests Mr. Zinke has very little appreciation of most places, a provincial in the worst sense. One of the most magic places on the planet is the Organ Mountains National Monument in Dona Ana County in New Mexico. And it only astonishes me more every time I return. What is Zinke’s problem with our natural legacy?
“And the Washington Monument, too! That thing always makes me feel inadequate!”
My initial hope was that he was proposing to wash Confederate statues in hot water. After all, it worked with his white sheets.
This just plain sux, and it isn’t funny at all.
Oh, I thought you meant beat them with a giant pop-art penis sculpture. My bad.
No profit.
A legacy is something you leave your offspring. You say, “Children, here is the world and all its wonders. I worked my life to keep it as pristine as I found it because I love you so much. Please do the same when it is your time to pass it on.”
You do not say “Here’s the Sixth Great Extinction Event, you little bastards. Now fuck off.”
“The President said we need the land for more beautiful golf courses,” Zinke proclaimed.
If Trump adopts the recommendations, it would quiet some of the worst fears of his opponents, who warned that vast public lands and marine areas could be lost to states or private interests.
Clearly added by some editor, without citation or sourcing, because at AP, there’s always an other hand, even if it’s only visible to the ghost of David Broder or else some small town paper in Kansas won’t run it because it’s biased.
Meanwhile, in the real world, we see “let’s do this and see if we get away with it, then next time, when we make bigger cuts, it will be normal and old news.”
Will the Republican congress defend the US Constitution by stopping from Trump from defying the Constitution and the entire history of the US and stop him from over ruling previous Presidents on National Monuments. No President has ever done this…and Trump is also NOT authorized to do this! He doesn’t have the authority to overall previous Presidents…especially with him being illegitimate and on course to being impeached for treason!
Ryan Zinke has always been a very good white boy in Montana…he obviously loves the role of reversing President Obama. Montana is a very racists state and Zinke is their poster child.
I’d say Zinke was a bad white boy. John Muir was a good white boy.
Yes, indeed. Our time in control of this nation’s last remaining natural ecosystems is limited. We must destroy all vestiges of nature while we have the chance. Time’s-a-wastin!
Chop-Chop!
The tree! The tree!
No doubt to be replaced by more confederate monuments.
We’ve gone from cherishing and protecting our country’s heritage with little controversy with the exception of the Bundy gang types to “shrinking the boundaries” of our national monuments. Trump is the George Costanza of presidents. Literal shrinkage of our national aspirations and general good and a walking, talking “It’s not a lie if you believe it”
Well, that one’s already underway. They don’t have to say it.
Everything with this badministration deals with shrinkage.
Shrinkage explains a lot of what they do, and why…
