Typical “dancing on the grave” bluster from the leader of the willfully stupid - Laura Ingraham.
Cantor lost for the single reason that he took his own district voters for granted, feeling he “could not lose” and that ARROGANCE destroyed him (that and the rampant, racist Xenophobia in that part of the Virginia.)
What choice did he have? That was just pandering to the base.
So do I, but as I said, that’s a personal opinion. It’s been my experience that nothing is ever based on one thing alone, but on a complex mixture of factors. All the pundits and politicos screaming “This proves that (insert favorite hobby horse here) is correct” are simply taking a very narrow-minded view of events. However, on Fox News, that is a feature, not a bug.
Agreed, multiple factors are always involved. I did sense that people were offended by Cantor. It’s just that both campaigns used the same anti-immigration rhetoric. It’s hard to believe these voters are motivated by cuts to social programs, since Cantor was supposedly perceived as less ideologically pure. Or so it’s said.
Social programs may not have been a motivational factor, but Cantor’s position on disaster relief, especially when it affected his own district, may have been, even if it wasn’t part of the campaign.

Ah. Ideology, meet reality. Good to know it still happens.
