Discussion: In Wisconsin, ID Law Proved Insurmountable For Many Voters

Well… that was the intent, wasn’t it?

In 2012, after that jackass in Pennsylvania brazenly admitted that voter ID was all about tilting Democratic states to republican victories, I can’t believe that most media organizations continue baby-stepping around this issue. “Some say that these laws disenfrachise poor and minority voters.” YES some do say that. Like many of the laws’ creators, and the laws are working as designed. Elections are being stolen, voices extinguished.

Supporters have long fallen for the misinformation of the GOP operatives who argued such restrictions are needed to prevent voter fraud though it essentially doesn’t exist in the country…

This is simply disgusting. There’s gotta be a 15th Amendment remedy, isn’t there?

So if you believe the state election officials on provisional ballots, that would be 30,000 votes. Plus all the people who didn’t fill out provisional ballots because it wasn’t worth it or they didn’t have time. (Years ago, I filled out a provisional ballot because I’d gotten purged by not having voted in the most recent election – the thing was a monster that took a good minute just to unfold, another 10 minutes to find all the scattered races and mark up. And then, from the way it was handled, I was pretty sure it wasn’t planned to count it…)

By one estimate, 300,000 eligible voters in the state lacked valid photo IDs heading into the election;

In the end, Wisconsin’s 10 Electoral College votes went to Republican Donald Trump, who defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton by roughly 22,000 votes. But the battle over voter ID laws continues.

Math even I can do.

This disgusting undermining of the democeanic process will be the blueprint the for these red states in 2020…frustrating when you hear the bullshit rhetoric to supress fair elections.

When Republicans take away our right to vote, what will they do when we take our guns into the streets to fight the Republicans and to win back our right to vote?

If we Democrats didn’t sit on our butts in 2010 their would not be a Republican Governor and legislature in power to have passed this law in Wisconsin.

WI is a mess. And the D’s are in disarray.

I predict another Walker victory in 2018

State Sen. Mary Lazich must be beaming, proudly protecting the polls from all those obvious losers!

She seems to have an impenetrable core of cynicism and hatred buried deep in her heart.

I was sure I had seen this story before. And sure enough, looking on Google™ I found references to it being published as early as May 9th.

Some state require a utility bill in your name to obtain a drivers license/state id. That makes registration impossible for a student, nursing home resident, a parent living with their grown children, etc.

"A student ID is acceptable only if it has a signature and a two-year expiration date. "

No longer issued with a signature. In addition, a student ID must be less than 2 years old. They issue them with a 5 year expiration to trick the students into thinking their card is still valid for voting at 2 years and 1 day.

The expiration stuff is such bullshit. They accept a passport, so this isn’t about proof of residency, it’s about proof of identity. Why should it matter if a student ID or a driver’s license is expired, it still is proof that I am the same person who is registered.

Hey, its a small price to pay for punishing Democrats for not delivering the Magic Public Option of Progressive Dreams* and for failing to organize mass executions of banking executives.
