What explainns the difference between Obama’s 44% approval and Hillary Clinton’s 36% approval on this issue, when they have almost word-for-word the same position. Here’s one guess: Bernie’s dead enders who he encourages to hate Hillary. Would welcome other theories.
Well, it may simply be the Presidential factor.
There may be Republicans who cannot tolerate a Democrat, but are still loyal to the “President”, who are giving him a more fair shake.
Yep, you may be right. I think that may constitute some part of that 8 point difference, but I suspect it’s not much of it-- knowing a fair number of Republicans who absolutely loath and despise Obama, and wouldn’t give him credit for anything.
Republicans loyal to this President? Name one.
Nope. Sounds about right.
I’m waiting for Donnie Dipshit to demand that part of the vetting process now include whether prospective parents are likely to have sons that are repressed homosexuals and are likely to act out with violence 30 years from now…
The president has the bully pulpit and the largest stage in the world. His speech was quite remarkable actually, well reasoned, thoughtful, impassioned. He needs to be careful not to let Trump get under his skin. Ever since the birther controversy, I don’t think Obama has had a lot of love for the Orange Supremacist.
One way Obama could get back at him is to schedule speeches at the same time Trump does. Take away his unearned media and he’ll sink like a big fat orange rock!
I bet far fewer people heard her speech. The people who love Trump and hate immigrants, that’s the 34% against both, but their are a fair number of people who will read a headline about the Presidents speech, but are not following the campaign right now, I think it’s not until after labor day that most tune in.
This further underlines just how stupid it is for Trump to try to make this an attack on the President and his loyalties. What brilliant strategy to take on a popular president who he is not running against!
You mean to tell me that a concise response that focuses on the incident and issues around it is received better than an arm flailing incoherent word salad?
Flabbergasted.
Hillary’s been in the public eye for about twenty five years. It could be long-standing dislike of the Clinton’s or just plain, garden variety misogyny as well.
The President was accused by Trump of being soft on terrorism and not know what he is doing. He had every right to call his sorry ass out yesterday. The President was stellar in my opjnion. There is a time to exprss anger and I am glad he did it
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
I remain proud of Mr. Obama and the two votes I gave him.
Obama is a great politician and Hillary is not. She admits that she is an awkward campaigner. She certainly had a different style when she was SoS–more professional, more studious–that I am sure she will be glad to get back to once President.
I’m thinking…
I’m thinking…
Sorry, got nothing.
I thought it was one of his most powerful speeches, and perfectly delivered!
I thought Hillary’s response to Trump was better than Obama’s from a political standpoint, but I’'m glad to see that the American people have developed enough trust in Obama to allow him to be that aggressive and not be bothered by it. Hillary’s personal ratings are net negative due to incessantly bad press coverage and one Mr. Bernie Sanders. I think that’s starting to turn around in her favor and she’ll be as strong and likely a stronger general election candidate than Obama.
No way. I like it when President Obama gets mad!
He doesn’t go off the handle. He doesn’t get riled, he gets deadly serious. I like that, wish he would do it more often!
