Sounds like a story planted by Joe Biden.
Not sure about that, but the fact that itās clearly FOR Joe Biden and coming from the Trump circle is significant. Given Bidenās age and baggage, the Putin-backed smear machine will have a field day with Biden and they welcome the opportunity.
The hard part about this to swallow is taxpayers probably fork out about $70,000 a year for an intern to do nothing but put chew bones and old tennis shoes in front of Trump all day long.
I donāt even want to know what that looks like or sound like (trying to reassure Trump). I think something along the lines of the grotesque beginning of the Cabinet meetings with toadying āodes to Trumpā comments made around the table. That is just what he expects. Now add trying to boost his ego and quell his fears at the same time.
Donnie is a font of insecurities.
You know, I donāt particularly want Biden. Heās gaffe-prone (although not to the degree of Trumplethinskin) and heās got a lot of baggage. But: If this story is accurate (Trumplethinskin fears Biden) and if georgeh and other local trolls are a-ginā him, Iāll have to give old Joe another look. Iām really not sure where I am with this crew: my guy (Sherrod Brown) decided now isnāt the time. Iām pleased to have him in the Senate, and that will have to be my consolation prize.
Biden is likely viewing his candidacy as a mission - to free the world from a destructive lunatic - if Biden could push Trump into deranged outburst of a sort that genuinely depleted Trumpās base ā¦ then Biden would consider his job done. Now that would be great ā¦ but it is not enough to make for a winning candidate. Rarely does a āI am not that lunaticā candidacy realize its ideals.
"We checked under the bed and in the closet, Mr. President, and thereās no evil Joe Biden anywhere to be seen, so you can go to sleep now. Do you want your Sean Hannity-shaped binky, too?"
Supporting Biden because you think he can win some Trump voters is not progress, it is back sliding.
T is a very shallow person who sees everything in terms of himself. He looks at Biden and what he sees, in his shallow way, is a reflection of himself: old white guy. That is why he sees Biden as more of a threat than those people who donāt look like him. It has nothing to do with who Joe really is or who any of the other candidates really are. Or who is the real threat.
As you astutely imply, it doesnāt matter what policies a Dem president has unless the US Senate changes composition dramatically. So keeping a Dem Senator in office in a state like Ohio is a huge victory for mankind.
The only thing we should be worried about in a Dem nominee is if theyāre charismatic enough to energize voters and fundraise. No policy proposal is going anywhere anyway.
In bridge, there is a play technique called a ātrump coupā. (interesting coincidence)
To make this play work, one must first reduce the number of trump cards in oneās hand to equal the number in the defendersās hands, possibly by playing trumps on a partnerās card that would have won anyway; that superficially appears to be giving up an advantage.
Running Biden against Trump seems to parallel this bridge technique. He is not the best candidate (IMO), but his background as a native of white rural Appalachia could help him erode one of Trumpās stronger groups of supporters.
It might be beneficial to have him in the race in case the progressive candidates chew each other up.
That said, Elizabeth Warren is currently the front runner for my vote.
Obviously fed to politico by either Bidenās camp or Trump himself, who hopes to run against Biden. Bidenās moment was 2016 when he had a good shot at beating Trump. Now he represents the old way of dem politics in a party yearning for new blood.
Still, Iād be happy to nominate Biden if it came down to him or Bernie.
ā¦ donāt be so sure ā¦ did you peer into the heating register ? once in a while you can see Bidenās eyes looking out through the grates ā¦ and if you listen very carefully late at night ā¦ you can sort of here Biden making a low, slow, drawn out eerie chuckle ā¦
The Putin-backed smear machine will go to town on anyone. That just has to be a part of the calculations of any candidate.
Liz is on my short list, too. Iām going to look at Inslee carefully. Iāve really ruled more people out than in. My No Way In Hell list includes:
- Sanders (Heās not even a Democrat, for Chrissakes);
- Gillibrand (Not after what she did to Franken);
- Gabbard (Sheās an idiot, and thatās from my observation as well friends in Hawaii); and,
- all the people Iāve never even heard of (Delaney, Williamson, and
Yang). Iām pretty politically aware and if I havenāt heard of them I
doubt they are viable.
Trump should be nervous even if a pet rock is the Democratic nominee - the country would be far better off with a pet rock as president and many voters know this.
Trump should be nervous about Biden. People in the room told him he shouldnāt be āoverly nervousā because Biden will likely be āpulled to the leftā during the Democratic primaries, a White House official told Politico.
I guess this is them believing that a candidate on the left canāt get elected. Hopefully, theyāre in for a rude awakening.
