Well, that made my eyes water up. What kind of people are sending him hate mail as a response to his heartfelt words? Oh, right.
I’ve driven by their store just off I40 a few times since the beginning of this year. I’m guessing he’ll lose some business from prejudice folks , but more than make up for it in folks that want to show their support and will do so by doing business with them.
I’m one of the customers that got the e-mail this morning and I was very moved by it. I really feel for him and the people who are being victimized by the law.
Thanks for sharing your story. As a long time customer I will certainly continue to support your excellent company. And as for the bad emails…These are very disturbed and angry people. I would suggest just filing those emails in the circular file.
It takes some guts to chose to live in South if you are gay, especially if you have a family. I would be scared for my kids.
If I was them, I would be seriously concerned about my kids before sending out the email.
This took courage.
Ditto, although I actually got the email a few days ago. I immediately handed my phone to my wife so she could read it as well. Damn courageous and touching.
I happen to know Bob Page professionally, and I can assure you that he’s very sincere about what he said, and that his company is very affirming of gay and trans people.
His husband is also a very nice man, and they love to show off pictures of their kids, of whom they are justly proud.
This story only make me like Bob even more—as I called him and told him yesterday.
I’ve ordered from this company for years as have several family members. It’s only icing on the cake for me to know that it’s run by a wonderful and caring man. A pre-emptive FU to any of the hateful responses he’ll receive. BEAUTIFUL family!
Good Man. Best of success to you in the future in all your endeavors.
This is not only a profile in courage. This is what humanity is all about. What a beautiful world this would be if there were more people in it like Mr. Page. I wish him and all of his employees continued success. Heck, if he has received 11,000 responses from customers–and surely not all responded–he must have one helluva terrific company! May it continue to thrive for many years to come.
The story and the exec’s beautiful letter made me tear up but hate won’t care…
BTW, who in the world could have founded and run a replacement dinnerware company but a gay man or a woman???
I would suggest turning them over to the FBI, especially if they contain threats. It is a violation of federal law to use any instrument of interstate or foreign commerce to communicate a threat to harm a person.
Any stodgy old-style sales guy from the 50s or 60s could have done it. The little woman would have complained about the trouble replacing some lost piece and the way the manufacturers weren’t bothering to stock stuff, and how her friends were having the same problem… But they don’t make stodgy old-style sales guys any more.
I have to say I was unfamiliar with the company, but my wife said she had used the site on a number of occasions over the years to replace items not only for us but also for our sons and their families, items she had thought irreplaceable … and so I’m very happy to have that association.
Wonderful, kind, thoughtful, brave and caring people that bring only good into the world. I wish them much happiness and success.

Replacements is the largest silver, china, and crystal replacement company in the world.
Bob Page started it in his basement garage.
Nor their old shops and warehouses…How I remember visiting, goggle-eyed, the warehouse of my Grandfather’s candy supplier as a child…I can still smell the sugary scent of the place.
This is the best and only answer to this kind of hateful legislation. These laws get passed because lawmakers either don’t know that the majority of people disagree with them, or they are banking on that majority remaining silent and indifferent as they cater to the intolerant minority.
When the public rises up and speaks out that this sort of intolerance will not be permitted in our society, they will be forced to acknowledge the injustice of these sorts of laws.
Replacements Ltd. is an outstanding niche business. If you ever need a replacement piece for an old china or silver pattern, they most likely have it. The company existed long before the internet came along, and has benefited greatly from online services the internet provides. Most of all, it is and has always been a well-run business that treats all employees and customers with respect.
Give 'em your business, if they have something you need. Or be sure to mention them to anyone who might be looking for, say, an Austrian butter pat from the 1890s!
