Discussion: In Call With Trump, Chinese President Urges Restraint Over North Korea

One hundred days ain’t quite up yet. The thing is, as crazy as Kim Jong Un is, I get the impression that he and the DRNK know exactly what they are doing. Trump and ‘His’ Generals, not so much.

Trumpence, when the walls fell!

North Korea and North Viet Nam served China well as testing and training grounds for their military. What happened in Viet Nam could be the result of an NK incursion below the DMZ. If China supported that invasion, it would be a certainty. Conventional U.S. military action would require logistical support of food, fuel, equipment, ammunition, and warm bodies from half way around the world. China could just send trains on existing rails. The problem with nuclear weapons is worse now than it was in 1952. North Korea has nothing much in the way of atom bombs, but China has lots of them.

So there are some historical parallels that show the need to finesse a solution. Republicans with their DNA hard wired need for an enemy have goaded China into developing military power to keep the U.S., a former ally in WWII, at bay. China has somewhat balanced their military might with economic development which will allow them to simply buy America. Unfortunately the Russians seem to have beat the Chinese to the purchase of the U.S. government, so China has to rethink their long term options. I think the current situation makes it more likely China would support the takeover of South Korea. Which brings us back to the need to finesse. That word can never be in the same sentence as the word: “Trump.” He can’t help doing something very stupid. It’s what he does. There are two possible outcomes. 1. The nuclear football is a jack in the box, and the dementia makes him forget about the whole thing. 2. Doomsday does not count towards the hundred day deadline.

What are the odds that the recent failed missile launches in NK are the result of cyber warfare?
