Imagine how the voters feltā€¦.

Those other two candidates were indicative of the voters Fulcher and Otter are pandering to. They shouldnā€™t have been surprised by what they were saying since the GOP has been encouraging that kind of behavior for years.

Itā€™s boiling down to a contest between two state slogans: ā€œthe worst day fishing is better than the best day at work,ā€ vs. ā€œif you can read this, the bitch fell off.ā€

It kind of reminds me of another gubernatorial race where H.H. Humphrey III refused to debate Norm Coleman without the fringe third party candidate; the rest, as they say, is history. Not that Cleatus or Jethro will ever get elected, but it really demonstrates Otterā€™s fearful mindset and his willingness to gum up the works with a stunt like this. If I was an Idahoan, Iā€™d be pissed

" the ā€˜debateā€™ turned from a serious discussion . . . to a mockery of the republican party"

Actually, the Republican Party turned the Republican Party into a mockery of the Republican Party.

Otter stole a play from Andrew Cuomo who, as clear frontrunner, skeated thru his one debate against his Republican challenger by demanding that Rent-is-too-Damn-High Guy and a motley crew of other aspirants be included.
Of course, Cuomoā€™s GOP challenger was Crazy-Carl Palladino, so there was really only one serious person on stageā€¦

ā€œApparently, governor Otter is content to have Idaho be a laughing stock so long as it improves his chance of winning an election.ā€

Russ, folks like the late Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage turned Idaho into a laughingstock some time ago. You only just noticed.

In the race for title of ā€˜state with the dumbest white people in Americaā€™, Utah and S Carolina had better take a look behind themā€¦Idaho is pulling up to make it a 3 way race!

Why do you think Gov Plastic Man set it up that way, Fulcher? Yeesh, itā€™s pretty bad when youā€™re dumber than Butch Otter.

the ā€˜debateā€™ turned from a serious discussion regarding the position for Idahoā€™s Chief Executive, to a mockery of the republican party

Seriously? A mockery of the Republican Party would be like a mockery of a Marx Brothersā€™ movie. How can you mock slapstick comedy?

Really, necessary? Replace white with black and I sure wouldnā€™t appreciate this comment.

And Otterā€™s stunt will probably work too. Iā€™d throw some stones about Idaho, but I live in the land of Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul. Besides, I saw this same stunt done many, many years ago during one of North Carolinaā€™s U.S. Senate races. However, the entity punking the voters of NC was the PBS affiliate. NCā€™s PBS affiliate invited six candidates running for the Democratic nod in 1990, and they included three candidates that would NEVER stand a serious chance of election to dog catcher. One was a minister who called liberalism ā€œevil,ā€ and another was an ancient wreck of a doctor who was missing several front teeth and talked so slowly that you feel asleep waiting for his response. The public debate was beyond a joke, but Senator Jesse Helms and his fellow Republicans loved it.

Heā€™s probably correct, but still a crazy ass tea bagger.

If this guy expected his opponent not to cheat, heā€™s not familiar with how the Republican Party works.

How can you respect a state that not only has a vegetable for their governor but has one on their license plates too.
