Discussion: IA Guv: Father's Appointment To Judicial Nominating Panel Was 'Just Like' Others

Gotta to have a way to supplement dear old Dads SS checks…

She couldn’t find an unrelated toadie that would simply pick whomever they were told to?

Gov. Kim Reynolds on Tuesday defended her decision to appoint her 78-year-old father to a panel that helps select judges in central Iowa, saying he was “just like” many others who serve on state boards.

“Why is Dad’s appointment any different from Mom’s appointment to the same panel, or Uncle Jeb’s appointment, or Cousin Ferbus’s appointment, or my son’s appointment. I could go on and on. But, you get my point.”

Geez, how corrupt is this one too - what is wrong with these corrupt governors.

Reynolds added that her dad had coached Little League baseball teams

That ought to be enough qualification.

This is an individual that loves the state and wanted to volunteer and give back

There are thousands of other ways he can volunteer and give back with groups that he’s both qualified for and that don’t have the obvious appearance of nepotism. She specifically wanted him on that committee because she can push him towards specific judicial nominee recommendations.

I should think so!

Her father is in charge of bringing snacks and juice boxes to all of the commission’s meetings.

Gee, how could it possibly be “brash nepotism”? I mean, it’s only her father. LOL!

“Reynolds added that her dad had coached Little League baseball teams”
That’s almost as good a qualification as “He screwed a porn star” or “He bankrupted 6 casinos”.

Next, she’s going to appoint Arnold Ziffel to the Iowa Pork Advisory Board.

He probably coached 50 years ago!

Sounds like a good time to bring out the “Show us where Coach Reynolds touched you, Timmy” doll.

the governor said her father was a retired factory worker for John Deere and farmer.

In other words, he’s the perfect evaluator of legal acumen and judicial temperament. In short, another poster boy for Rethugliklan meritocracy.

Brash corruption is more like it.

The Trumpian Republicant poison is spreading throughout our body politic. It will not stop of its own volition.

You know what would have been a better qualification, if her Dad had managed the umpires. That would be a community member that had to deal with conflict.

Honestly how many legal case was he involved in as a John Deere factory worker and farmer? How many hours of The People’s Court and Judge Judy has he amassed since he retired? Does he know the number of Law and Order series there were/are?
