What else would you expect such a racist as Huckabee to say?

The Tale of Fears.

Trump’s early years ait even close to what a young Jackson went through. Last year is only similar to 1824 and 1828, because the ones that Trump is about to stick with a figurative shiv, views this country with ā€˜rose colored’ glasses.

How Christian of him…

Bannon is SO desperate to make a comparison between Trump and Jackson stick, in order to lend some credibility to his puppet.

But Jackson won the popular vote in 3 elections (the first election against John Quincy Adams was decided in Adams favor in the House…the first and only time the House has decided an election)…by double digits in all 3 cases.

He was a monumental jackass, but he was extremely popular. And had served in the military as a decorated leader. Trump is just a monumental jackass. He isn’t popular and is a coward in every discernible way.

Holy FK, Huck. It really is time for you to STFU. Your daughter may be Trump’s spokesperson but YOU aren’t. You are a stupid, racist, redneck hick and it is time to retire to Arkansas and close you lips.

If Huckabee had a soul it would be deeply stained by this mindlessly cruel remark…

In this statement, and also in the statements of Huckabee’s daughter who spent a weekend going to bat for him on the wiretapping claims, you see why southern whites really like Trump. He is validating their history as they see it. Biggest issue I’ve noticed with southern white voters vs. white folks from everywhere else is how hung up families with ancestral links to that era can’t get over the civil war. One of my college professors who grew up in NC often joked to his class that where he grew up, ā€˜they didn’t teach history past the year 1865.’ A lot of southerners have grimaced at not being able to fully embrace the history without taking on the racist baggage that came along with it. It grates at them. Trump makes them feel ok about their history, including the baggage. Andrew Jackson is celebrated in the South as a President who understood southern concerns and yet was a force for preserving the union. That’s the mindset of many southerners: the union is ok so long as it serves the south or lets the south be the south. The moment the Federal government started ā€˜imposing’ national standards on issues like schools etc., that’s when our cold civil war began. Trump has escalated it bigly.

In the next two weeks I think you’re going to see examples of Trump’s screaming cowardice and complete lack of character…What did HRC say of Donald? Oh yea, unfit for office…

So, the oath of office he took about ā€œfaithfully executing the lawsā€ was just a suggestion? Huckabee continues to sink further into the depths of depravity every day, and his otherwise-unemployable daughter is going to get what she deserves for throwing in her lot with the Trump criminal conspiracy.

Back in my 9th-grade history class, circa early 1970s, the Trail of Tears was taught as historical tragedy. (Incidentally, this was in Texas.) Now we have government officials who cite the Trail of Tears as historical precedent. What a freaking nightmare this country has become.

I know… one thing that is cleansing about these days is the real racists and hate mongers are coming out from under their jeebus robes. The stink is there for all to see. Not pretty, but sunshine does wonders for that sort of fungus.

I so hope you are right.

Huckabee accused President Obama of exceeding his authority and now he is suggesting Trump do the same? What a hypocrite, what a partisan hack! Sad.

That’s not really true. Jackson’s support was largely from the frontier or ā€œWesternersā€ (as the West was defined back then). Indeed, the John Quincy Adams vs. Jackson campaigns were largely cast as the frontier…America’s future, vs. the old guard Easterners…populism vs. elitism.

The southern infatuation with the past that you are describing is almost exclusively tied up with the Civil War…which was almost 30 years after Jackson left office. You might as well claim that Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe are celebrated in the South as ā€œSouthern Presidentsā€ā€¦and you would be just as off base. Yes, they all came from the South (Virginia to be specific), but they not celebrated in the same way that say, Robert E.Lee or Jefferson Davis or Stonewall Jackson are. Not even close.

This sentiment clearly shows the authoritarian, and un-American, streak that permeates the Republican Party. Someone please tell Huck that there has been almost two hundred years of political, social and governmental progress since Jackson screwed over the Cherokee nation (among others).
