She gets that a lot.

Well, that’s embarrassing!

I’ve been searching, but for some reason I haven’t found any footage of Walter Cronkite, Huntley or Brinkley ever being “pranked” on air.

Gary Patrick Angelo Dell’Abate! (pause) Nothing? Okay. See, that’s why responsible, accurate information is never funny.

What really sucks, other than the death and destruction, is it takes this much death and destruction to get Lanny Davis off the front page.

Yes. Yes, she is a dumbass. Man… get the idiots out of TV and politics. Please.

And that makes the prankster…??

TPMZ indeed.

Howard Stern and his posse are the dumbasseses here. She’s a reporter being fed information through a headset from a producer who got punk’d. Yeah, let’s get rid of her and keep only the smart men in media.

On-Air “Talent” don’t have a CLUE who is going to be connected next. That is the job of the producer and their assistants.
On top of that, they only listen to the voice in their ear (producer), not the callers.

I’m surprised the crawl didn’t read “Malaysian plane falls mainly on Ukraine”.

Or a broadcast delay. Seems like a necessity if you’re putting unvouched-for callers on a national news show, but the ways of the electronic media are mysterious to me.

I’m genuinely ambivalent about whom I should detest more – the emotionally stunted “prankster,” or the purported news network that, after all these years of this shit happening, still insists on airing stuff that hasn’t been vetted at the most basic level. I’ll have to go with the news network, because they are pretending to be responsible and professional, even though they aren’t close to either of those things. Appalling.

There’s the thing. The blame for incidents like this can be laid directly at the feet of a media that’s so in a rush for the “scoop” they’ll take live, un-delayed calls from “eyewitnesses”. One would think that they’d have learned better than to do this by now…but, sadly, no.

Yeah, but why can’t they be creative with it? You know, lick all the doorknobs on their block or something else that would show a little thought.

Have to admit I LOL’d at that one…

Because they are troglodytes. Period.

I’m with you , I gotta go with the network. But at least you know it’s MSNBC - someones writing the apology right now.

I detest the caller. There’s some sort of vacuum-souled sickness going on in that psyche. I deplore the networks on a regular basis, and do here, it was sloppy and unprofessional to let that happen. But they’re not totally sick in a nasty, weaselly, no-empathy way, like the caller.
