I was just going to say this. She was the favorite punching bag because of things like gender, age and personal wealth (though there are far more republicans in Congress wealthier than she is), and just overall disrespect whenever possible. Now, if certain people would just do the same around Clinton who was a heroine while she was taking down trumpp in debates and it looked like she’d win, but in some circles her name’s now a dirty word with cries of get off the stage.

Slotkin won against Mike Bishop, and represents a very swing district. She won by 50.6%. She’s the first Dem to represent her district since 2001 so that’s where she chose to plant her flag for now. Pelosi probably figured she could sacrifice a few of those votes for that reason. Slotkin won but still will try to walk a more moderate line until she gets her sea legs I imagine. I don’t know much about her. I got Justin Amash as my rep…so I’m still screwed six ways to Sunday here in GR.

This is new… the old models are not only arcane, they are obsolete.
Too many poundits are approaching this as if its still 2008. Something is profoundly different in US politics, there is a desperation for boring, plain old simple normalcy.
No-drama Obama seems so sane, compared to the wild Trump card now infesting the WH…
The adults, in every shape, are taking it back from the Lord of the Flies.
There really is no historic comparison that explains any of it, we’ll look back with 2020 hindsight in 2021 and understand it better, but right now, anyone who claims to have it figured out is likely in for a disappointment.

I take comfort in knowing with complete certainty that 2019 will be the worst year of trumpp’s miserable life. He’s glided through life, cheating and lying everywhere, using and abusing people, now it’s time to pay for a life where he was made president with help from Mark Burnett and then the EC.

People who campaign on dumb issues like who they’ll vote for for Speaker need to rethink their strategies. Letting Republicans cow you into defensive positions like opposing Pelosi doesn’t show strength.
Trump is just making it clear that it is now the official GOP position to keep the government shut down until November 2020. It will be interesting to see just how many of this current followers feel that this will be a good idea as time passes will be interesting to watch. Just how long federal employees decide they can continue to work for free as well as how much chaos, expense and destruction of the American way of life will occur as a result of their electoral strategy is going to be a major driver in how this plays out.
