Republican politicians realize they will never win in Florida again if this constitutional amendment isn’t gutted. Watch as they pull out all the stops to destroy it.

Very simple rule the Legislature will adopt. If you are an ex-felon who is white, you are allowed to vote. Otherwise, sorry.

The only party out there who makes it harder for Americans to vote? The GOP.

The only party that wants to tightly restrict who votes and when? The GOP

The only party that does not believe that when you have done the time, followed the process, that you are still less than a full American? The GOP

The only party that works in the closed door room to ensure that the majority is minimized by redistricting? The GOP (and yes I know about Maryland and the fact that the Gerry in Gerrymander is actual a Dem)

Why does the GOP fear the will of the Florida Voters? I mean the willed/voted DeSantis into office, why does the GOP get to pick and choose which will of the voters to follow? Why don’t they just listen to their constituents voting?

“They love regulation”

except in talking points . . .

It’s very easy to implement this. Allow people to register as voters. The state does this all the time.

Wow, color me shocked!

“We’re going to implement it,” Baxley told TPM.

“Here,” he continued, “is the implement that we’ve selected for the task.”

Yeah … about that …

People do realize that the republican answer to this will be to impose minimum sentences that include 20 years of probation for virtually any conviction and large fines that ex-cons will need decades to pay off, right? They’re just stalling until they have the details of that worked out.

Jan. 8 should be a day of celebration, with the newly eligible flocking to offices around the state to register.

Whatever assistance they are allowed by law, the ACLU and others should make available on site.

Shame and sue the hell out of those who try to stop people from registering. Make it a PR disaster for the Republicans.

Repuglicans really hate democracy, don’t they?

Alternatively: Classify just about any offense as a felony sex crime, rendering the felon ineligible to ever have voting rights restored.

The state wants there to be 67 different solutions to how to implement this. Then they can pick the one that made restoring their voting rights the hardest for ex-felons.

Yep, you’ve got it. The will of the voters cannot be allowed to challenge right-wing power. Republicans speak with one voice and one mind on this.
