More garbage in, garbage out: fighting racism with racism. What a waste of ink.
ā¦to the surprise of no oneā¦
The worst part is it gains traction with these assholes.
Yet a more objectively true thing to say is āconservativesā support mass killings of first graders.
Conservatives are dying, and are not worth saving.
Let them die, and insulate the next generation from their bigotry.
Iām sorry to break it to you, but a segment of the next generation has already been infected. There will always be bigots and those with extreme conservative and liberal mindset.
On Wednesday a disgruntled former employee named Vester Lee Flanagan, a black man, shot and killed two white TV news reporters on air in Roanoke, Virginia. On Saturday Shannon J. Miles, also African American, was arrested for shooting a Texas deputy. These incidents are the latest in a long, numbing progression of recent tragedies at the nexus of gun control, mental health, and a violent culture reacting in rage at a sense of helplessness.
Virginia and Texas are two states that still have the death penalty. Flanagan avoided his turn but Miles wonāt.
That should always be retold to anyone who subscribes to that āreverse racismā theory.
It was as if a communal prayer was being sent up in thousands of households at once, from their eyes and up through the TV screens: Lord, donāt give them another reason.
No truer words. I do this everyday and so did my parents and their parents. When I saw that Vester Flanagan was black my heart sank because I knew what was coming next, what always comes next. It becomes an indictment against every black person.
On Fox, āJustice with Jeanineā used the Texas story as an opportunity to blame Obama and call Black Lives Matter āblack slime that needs to be eradicated.ā
Itās funny, after the TWO protesters from BLM twice rudely interrupted Bernie Sandersā speeches, a number of his supporters said very similar things about the movement. TWO people behaving inappropriately became indicative of the entire movement. I would expect that kind of racism from conservatives, but was surprised to see just how many liberals were willing to write off a movement that includes millions based on the actions of TWO people.
Guess weāll have to extend the quarantine then.
White men are individuals, each with their own particular histories and motivations. Black people (and other non-white-men) are members of their race (or gender or sect or whatever). At least thatās how the standard narrative portrays them.
But I think part of the conservative storyline is also a subconscious recognition of how racist our society is ā if angry old white men were treated the way minorities are, you wouldnāt be able to hear anything over the small-arms fire.
Excellent insight and tragically written into the fabric of our society since itās founding, it even took a Civil War and Constitutional amendment to start changing the direction.
chained to an increasingly aging base who are trying to hold onto some semblance of legitimacy through the use of rage politics and intellectual dishonesty.
When I read this I truly wanted to believe it true, but have increasingly come to appreciate that the next generation just hasnāt retired yet with nothing to do besides obsess. Unfortunately, the seeds are out there and growing.
The propaganda poster is alive and well and reborn on the Internet, I see.
- Couldnāt agree more. I was on vacation with my partner and we both said the same thing when we found out Vester was black because we could just write the headlines. And the way the police are using the shooting of the Texas policeman in his car is equally disturbing. I am not condoning or making excuses, but why is this policemanās life worth any more than all the young black men and women slain at the hands of police. It is sickening. I am not surprised Fox news turned the story around. What else do we expect from these people.
I thought in 1964 when they passed the Civil Rights Act that the white racists who opposed it would be dead in 20 years or so too, but they just reproduced more of the same.
Ice āMotherFking" T sang "Fk the policeā (Cop Killer) with his band Body Count and has now been playing a cop on Law & Order SVU for the past 100 years.
Soā¦ what am I missing? Life is interesting.
Flipped? Flipped?! That is the script, Aurin. Has been for centuries.
We donāt have institutionally long memories.
When the Second Reconstruction occurred we (I am talking about āminoritiesā) did not drill into our kids that the 0.001% has every reason to sustain and nurse the rotting carcass of racism as it is conceived and practiced in the U.S.
In that sense, the Rump of America (those who ideate, practice and socialize their children with the type of racism perfected in this country) are as permanent and unyielding as, say, glaciers. Because most other peopleās reality does not absolutely necessitate āsuperior human/inferior humanā dichotomies, we can and did lose focus and drift away from the discipline necessary to be alerted to Talk Radio and FOX, the fall-off in appreciation of voting, vigilance in responses to racism, the establishment of alliances with non-āminorityā groups, etc.
Hatred and racism in America are taught. Me, even before nursing school I rebelled developing critical thinking skillsārefusing to allow others to do my thinking for me! There are only a few simple truths in life; at the top of that list is none of us can change history, although aggressive efforts to re-write some parts of it are underway. Another is each of us only has a limited amount of time on this planet. None of us get to know how much, and none of us gets out alive. Time is short. We all have to choose what we will invest our effort in.
Me, Iām not willing to take the blame for the behavior of people who lived before me. I wonāt be apologizing and I wonāt be writing checks. Itās my time, so Iām going live my life. It will be in an honorable manner based in a fair exchange of goods and services, and Iāll be holding as best I can to the principles of non-aggression. I will make my relationship choices based on the merits of each individual I encounter, and not on their racial makeup.
If you want to do business, be friends, exchange ideas or share a laugh, Iām open. If you want to accuse me of some absurd harm to you due to my skin color, feel free to go pound sand. Iām not your problem, regardless of what Sharpton or any other race-hustling, poverty-pimp says, or whatever level of guilt the latest Quentin Tarantino production attempts to suggest. On the other hand, thereās a great way to make me your problem and thatās to attempt violence towards myself or anyone I hold dear. That I will not abide.
I believe the world, and America, would be a better place if more people offered the same. This is the foundation of Americaāembracing the concept of the individual. Itās the true foundation of Liberty. Christian ideals and the opportunity to be the best you can be being spurned by Americans in America hurts me to watch. Offshore, watching Islam, the oppressive, political movement masquerading as a religion, is similarly hurtful.
