It will be time for Pat Leahy to ignore R stalling in the Judiciary Committee and slam through every nomination pending.
No more mister nice guy.
Since Reid changed the filibuster rules, they already got a lot of judges through, and they will have two months to cram many more through. If they have a seat open up for the SCOTUS, it is the President who has the right to pick whom he wants. If it is just another right wing waged war, and that seat goes vacant then they get the blame.
Anybody seriously doubt that if Obama nominated Ted Cruz for the Supreme Court, the Senate would block it because obviously Cruz was now a squish?
Another example of Republican āgovernance.ā Doing nothing. And yet they still will get vast numbers of people to vote for them.
Is this the beginning of The Brownbacking of America?
McConnell would be overplaying his hand by stopping nominations and refusing to do anything in the Senate. Yes, they would have more power, but it would also mean they have more responsibility and take more of the blame. If Republicans control both chambers and nothing gets done, they will be the ones getting blamed. If they refuse to approve reasonable nominations out of pettiness, they will get blamed.
If I believe that will you tell me another?
I donāt know, if Obama nominated someone to the right of Scalia and Alito they might be able to get confirmed with only a few perfunctory denouncements for being the most radical liberal socialist nominee ever nominated by any president ever.
Watch it,because if you dare to tell the truth, that way too many of our Dem politicians are spineless, and terrible at getting their message out, while allowing the right to trample all over them with their lies, you will be called a fake liberal, or as I was called the other day a āunicorn progressiveā.
Yeah I know that the vulnerable Dems in the red states canāt mention this President and keep their seats, but they have had 6 damn years to get their progressive agenda out there and scream about it, and they would have won on it, because polls show majorities in every state in this country agree with raising the minimum wage, closing the huge wealth gap, and equal pay for women, but the right has a well oiled PR BS machine, while we have two people who will not sit down and shut up, Warren and Sanders, and the rest of them act like they have to hide in a corner and stay silent, so no one notices them. They have allowed the right to set the narrative and the media to run with it. Just because I am a proud liberal, and would never vote for Republican, does not mean that I can not voice what is clear, that our party defeats itself with itās meekness, and that has to stop.
JFC the things Iād do to these people if I had immunity from prosecution.
I truly desire war against them. The real kind.
Thereās a part of me that thinks with the case against the filibuster going before the SCOTUS soon, one wonders if the Republicans take the Senate if they will ārun the boardā and try to state that they can convict an impeached President with only a simple majority instead of the 2/3 majority needed.
With this SCOTUS makeup now, one has to wonder if they would try it, then argue the constitutionality of the maneuver afterwards (knowing that unless one of the more conservative justices leaves or passes, theyāll probably rubber stamp it as being constitutional).
What makes you think they care? If they can find ways to really screw with the country before 2016, then I think theyāll consider their job well done. Who cares if you leave a smoking ruin, especially if you know you wonāt have to clean it up?
The SenateSonsOfMitches just saying NO?
How quaintā¦
āMcConnell, a ruthless and clever strategist,ā¦ā
WTF?! Since when is just saying no every time anyone asks you anything either ruthless or clever? They could just hang a sign on his desk with the word āNoā on it, and no one would notice he was gone.
Media intrigue, itās bread and butter.
I wish Democrats would stop fretting and embrace this view: As Reagan asked. ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW? I ask are you better off now today then you were in 2008 before Obama was elected? You know the answer! Because I know the answer. The answer is YES YOU ARE!! Admit it! I am alot better off then I was in 2008. I was in debt, worried about losing my job and watching my 401K funds tank. TODAY I still have my job, my debt is under control having paid alot of it off. My 401K is flush with cash even after the recent market correction. I have no idea why people in this country are soo unhappy with the way things are.
Look around. The USA economy is one of the stronger economies around. The US dollar is stronger Consumer confidence is on an upward path. The unemployment situation is still not great but itās been going down. STOP watching and listening to these partisan hackers who make a living and feed off hate and unhappiness. BTW everyone bashes Obama when gas prices are high. How come no one is saying crap about the fact gas prices are now under $3 a gallon? I am voting straight Democrat in the election this year.
Alot of people who bash and hate online are just unhappy people. There was a yahoo poster/troll a few years ago who died. The guy was very negative all over the web. The story came out about the guy. He was white in his late 60ās and had been in a wheel chair for 20 years. Rarely went out in public. So you see why this person would be so unhappy. Through the web he expressed this unhappiness. This is what you call an online troll.
These people are āConstitutionalistsā like Iām a banana cream pie. When will a majority of us rise up and demand honest discussion of issues instead of waiting for the next slogan or branding campaign to be splashed over us?
Someone said āIf the republicans win Senate majority, theyāll get the blame for things not getting doneā Hah! blamed by who, the media? Double Hah! The media will report whatever bullshit explanation republicans give, and report the bullshit explanation as if it were factual.
That picture clearly illustrates what is wrong with American politics.
I do not want them to get the Senate, and I have been volunteering for months with the Dems to do all I can to try and stop them, but we have to get ready for that being a reality, because there are a lot of really stupid people out there. They say they are voting for the Republicans, because they are tired of the gridlock, and yet they are voting for the people who plotted that gridlock for this past 6 years, on the night this President was first elected, and you can bet that their number one goal now is to tarnish this black Presidentās legacy as much as possible, because that is all those evil, twisted people care about.
Sen. Portman, who is one of the more sane, and less evil Republicans, sent them a stern warning the other day, when he said if they do get the Senate, then they are going to have to do more than just obstruct this President, or they face a bloodbath in 2016. He is hearing all of the crap from people like Cruz, and McChinless, that we are, and he knows that is not what the stupid people are voting for when they say they are voting Republican to end the gridlock.
There is one thing that we can be sure of, and McChinless making that stupid remark that elections have consequences, when he seemed to ignore the will of the people for 6 years now who elected this President, is that they are going to go full out stupid if they do get the Senate. Remember that they have a lot more to lose in 2016 than the Presidency, as that year they have a lot of Senate seats to defend, and those that tend to stay at home in midterms get out to vote in Presidential years. So no, I do not want them to get the Senate, but since that is a real possibility that we have to get ready for, I am going for the glass half full belief, that they will end up doing themselves more damage for 2016 if they do. They are already clearly telegraphing that message to us.
