Sort of related: Cohen has dropped his lawsuit against Buzzfeed and Fusion GPS. You can’t claim libel if it’s true. Prague, here we come, or There he went.
Here’s the total sum of Rep Jordan’s background before he became a representative from Ohio!
In other words, he’s spent his entire pre-congressional life rolling around on the gym floor with young boys with his face scissored-locked in their crotches!
“Before entering politics, he was an assistant wrestling coach with the Ohio State University wrestling program.”
Brilliant!
Really? Are there…
Mass arrests and murder of political opponents?
A secret police controlling the nation with terror and torture?
Restrictions on travel within the nation?
Banning of travel–save for the elite–outside of the nation?
Policies that make ‘stop and frisk’ look like afternoon tea?
Complete control of all media and entertainment?
Complete control over the education system?
America isn’t an autocracy, Trump isn’t Stalin as the OP claimed. To claim so reduces what Stalin did to meaningless catch phrases and absurd comparisons.
With the heat of a thousand suns, I truly and completely hate these moronic mofos who are unable to do the WORK OF THIS COUNTRY in favor of their own petty ass grievances.
Because Republicans really are this fucking stupid, and it’s all about getting them motivated and in the polling booth in November by turning this into an assault against the stupid white people of Umerika by the Deeeep State.
I saw that one. But what should I think and do about it? Panic? I’m aware of this shit. I know propaganda works or people wouldn’t do it. I had a wingnut asshole in my face at a township meeting last night. But I’ve picked a team and I’m gonna play. You see another way forward?
Do Republicans really think any of these official FBI documents will come near to the shock value of what law enforcement found in Cohen’s office and phone records? I’ve never understood why some people are such bad poker players. Why bluff and bet the family fortune when you know someone else holds a royal flush?
Imagine if there had been a Republican majority in the era of Nixon, and that majority had belonged, body and soul, to a handful of fossil fuel heirs and billionaires, and had shared their masters’ profound contempt for constitutional norms and democratic governance.
Well, we’re about to find out what that would have been like. Only we’re stuck with a band of Republicans worse than Dick Nixon and Haldeman and Ehrlichman and Bebe Rebozo rolled into one, with a dash of Roger Ailes and Paul Weyrich for icing.
As Republicans, their only remaining moral imperative is their own victory. They will do anything to “win,” and with a mid-term election looming that doesn’t look good for them in terms of how actual citizens would actually vote, they are determined to create a different outcome.
Ugly things loom on the very near horizon, the dissolution and nullification of constitutional order the least among them.
Frum nailed it:
If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.
So, if Comey typed up memos (for his files) on his interactions with Trump, are they anything more than his notes (which may include his perceptions in addition to some facts)? Notes that Comey could use to reference those interactions?
It seems that the Rs may get something they did not bargain for if the memos are turned over to them… the truth. That is the only thing Republicans are afraid of, the truth… unless it is their version.
Well, assuming the planet survives, eventually the last of the generations damaged environmental lead neurotoxicity will die out …
I have seriously been thinking lately about the spike in extreme violence in the Twentieth Century and the upward spiral of violence that permeated Roman culture and politics with it’s own use of lead pipe for moving drinking water and white lead as an artificial sweetner and wondering how much of it was due to leaded gasoline.
The violence of Tsarist Russia and post-revolutionary USSR and the PRC would seem to raise doubts about that theory given that they didn’t have the cars. And certainly the extreme violence of European imperialism (including ours) and our own civil war’s violence seem to indicate it was largely about technology.
But I look at that big bolus of death in the 1900’s and see that the kids in this decade just plain seem better than those of prior generations (on average and overall, both statistically and anecdotally)–including mine–and I wonder how much of the stupidity and regression we’ve seen is the result of heavy metal neurological damage that all of us over a certain age have to some degree.
If this propaganda is tainting the FBI, it’s hurting the image of all law enforcement, too. Not that the police aren’t doing a good job of that themselves with all these Shoot Dead and Apologize Later incidents. The Republican fascists might be hurting the reputation of their own storm troopers as well. That should only help the Resistance in the long run.
Look at the debacle going on in Missouri. The indicted felon GOP Governor is now trying to stop his own Republican AG from issuing more indictments with a court stay while his other trial is going on. It’s like conservatives are making a mockery of the very law and order they say they are protecting.
None of their GOP propaganda will work when all we hear is that Republicans deserve Mulligans for breaking the law but the rest of us better respect it or else.
Well, in Frum fashion, he didn’t really so much nail it as perceive a thing that has already happened with conservatives, and has been happening for decades as a thing that might happen If Present Trends Continue.
Ab-so-effen-lutely!!! Put me in coach, straight Democratic ticket for this Cat come November!!
The polling gap was sure to close as GOP voters get more enthusiastic. But I’d like to see where it’s closing. If it’s closing due to increased percentages of GOP voters in Alabama, Oklahoma, Kansas, the Dakotas, etc. that’s predictable. Dems could take the House on the basis of CA, NY and NJ, alone. But the fact remains: to win we have to show up. I doubt we turn the Senate around.
You ever wonder what these rethugs are really trying to shift the focus from with all this insanity? This is what I suspect. All those tax day rallies on Tax Day were a bust for those “fiscally responsible” Freedumb Caucus Teabagging Assholes.
The rethugs one and only so-called achievement in Congress under tRump is even less popular today than it was a month ago…and its continuing to be less popular every single day Americans realize they’ve been scammed into believing this was going to be a huge benefit to them. The most obvious winners were the big banks that clawed back billions in stock buy backs, and the uber-wealthy got tax breaks they didn’t need in the first place. Its beginning to come into focus now that most have done their taxes.
1.8 Trillion in deficits just wasn’t worth it when people realize their kids will be paying the price well into their future for these tax cuts for the filthy rich. So Rethugs fall campaigns really have nothing substantive to run on, and will rely on more Koch fueled dollars intervening to help them lie to the public about how great they are, and how much they’ve done for the country in the last two years in office. If that’s all they’ve got, they’re gonna need a big distraction…and this Rosenstein subpoena is about as big as many of them can get at this point. Never mind its nothing short of provoking and hastening a constitutional crisis…which I truly believe we are all headed for. Its bad enough that people are dipping their toes into this maelstrom of today’s discontent.
People inclined to believe in Bigfoot and UFO abductions are buying the line that the US government is covering those two things up?
I do understand what you’re saying, and how you’re feeling. Personally, I would like to see a concerted media efffort by the DNC Press to hit back. Not necessarily to change warped minds, but to be a constant irritant.
(I’d love to see some YouTube ad with a man telling an FBI agent to get out of his house and the distraught wife imploring him not to because he’s working little Susie’s kidnapping case. Too much?)
But most of all, I would like to see Dems in Congress drop the full-blown politesse and call these commie sonsofbitches for what they are, rather than “my colleagues across the aisle.”
When you can issue a pardon for any crime committed, one doesn’t feel the truth is all that important. Republicans gave up on the rule of law decades ago when they decided that all that’s really important to them is holding power and abusng it.
Gonna bet that the notes will be heavily redacted to ‘prove’ anti-trump bias. If they make even the slightest case against Orange Fool, the notes will never see the light of day.
My two cents
