Discussion: House Passes Spending Bill To Avoid Gov't Shutdown With Just Hours To Spare

Discussion for article #241235

The “hair on fire” RW have nothing to show for all their whining. Anyone surprised?

Couldn’t have been THAT big a deal if both Rubio & Graham skipped the vote.

Does make one wonder whatever was the ‘more pressing business’ each just HAD to attend to, against voting to continue the government both were voted in to attend to. Fundraising? Pretty important. Hormone injections? Sounds almost medical. Hair plugs for men? Dry mouth therapy? Gosh, I do hope someone thinks to ask Senator Rubio what in the world was so darned important to justify missing work today.

Be-Cuzz…Freedumb…

Requires a gubmit to rail agin’

“Republican leadership chose to abandon its constitutional power of the purse and to fund 100 percent of President Obama’s failed agenda.”

While it’s true that President Obama’s agenda has been far from the overwhelming success that many of us had hoped for, that has less to do with the agenda itself than with the fact that the agenda has failed due to epic, unprecedented obstruction by people like you, Senator Cruz.

Now The Speaker should establish is legacy by bringing the necessary spending bills and emigration reform up for votes along with the appropriate debit calling authorization. Good bills could bring together the same coalition that passed this extension of spending limits.

House Republicans opposed the measure by a clear margin, but Democratic support was unanimous.

Good luck trying to spin any Government shutdown this session as the fault of the Democrats.

Darn. Our shutdown meeting today had me slated for 3 paid hours per day. Maybe I’ll keep that schedule in December so I can get my seasonal cards written on time.

No, these are Republicans who wear their religion on their sleeve while violating every tenant of it, so you have to call them Christmas cards. Call them “Seasonal” cards and they will whine and moan about the “War on Christmas”, even as they plot to keep the sick from getting care and reduce the “Meals on Wheels” old people get to just a little cheese melted over stuffing.

@condew, ha ha. it was a very deliberate choice of terms. I really enjoy the ‘war on xmas’ stuff. I send solstice cards when i can get them done early enough, otherwise New Years. Haven’t been able to break the immediate family of 12/25 gift giving however.

Thanks to perhaps the new Speaker, we know how just about every committee in Congress are conducting their investigations done on a partisan and political basis and at the cost to every U. S. Taxpayer!

The entire GoP should throw in the white towel and surrender their power, NOW!

Unemployment at the lowest level in years.
Economy steadily growing, albeit more slowly than it could be if the Repubs would get out of the way.
Millions more people now covered by health insurance.
Health costs stabilizing.

Failed agenda?

The only failed agenda I see is the Republican agenda to:
Make Obama a one-term President.
Repeal the Affordable Care Act.
End Social Security.
Dismantle Medicare.
etc., etc., etc.
And oh yes, Ted Cruz’ agenda to become President – Never gonna happen.

I agree, but we are going to have to throw them out. All of them!

The organization says it has acted legally and the videos were deceptively edited.

Nice work AP, once again carrying the GOP’s water for them. Planned Parenthood did act legally and the videos were deceptively edited, these are known facts, no need for “The organizations says” which makes it sound like PP might be acting illegally and the videos were truthful.

Good luck with Speaker Kevin McCarthy, GOP! He’s a freaking MORON!
