Discussion: House Minority Leader Pelosi: I’m ‘Proud To Endorse’ Clinton

“Bernie knows better than anyone what’s on the line in the election and that we at some point have to unify as we go forward,”

But does he? We’ll see in about 24 hours. I’m betting that he won’t concede and he will continue to campaign against Clinton all the way up to the convention.

Actually, the more Trump continues to implode, the less leverage Bernie has. I hope he realizes that and uses it as a reason to drop out.

Also, I’m expecting the President’s endorsement of Hillary tomorrow after today’s primaries.

What endorsement of Hilary will signal to Bernie that it is time to concede? It won’t be Obama. To paraphrase that great American philosopher L. P. Berra:

“It ain’t over until the lady senator from Massachusetts endorses.”

I confess to being an ardent supporter of Bernie–or more specifically of Bernie’s ideas.

But here’s the thing. Trump’s ideas scare the hell out of me. I would rather Bernie concede, add his ideas to Hilary’s and move on, because the thought of President Trump…

I know the perfect can be the enemy of the good; but Trump is the enemy of democracy, and needs to be stopped. I am happy to switch my support to Hilary.

Big deal! Rep. Pelosi is part of the Democratic Establishment, getting elected to office, and all that.

Even when Warren endorses Clinton, and she will, Sanders will then say that Warren has joined the “establishment.”

Of course she is! Warren will be no better than Trump! And the two parties are exactly the same! Haven’t you drunk the Sanders/Sarandon Kool-Aid yet? Silly person!

“Big deal! Pelosi is a loser!! Plus she’s like a 3 or 4! 4 at most!!”

Looks like Senator Sanders is going to get away with never releasing his tax returns (other than 2014).

His more ardent supporters already have, repeatedy and vehemently, for failing to endorse their Great Leader. So yeah, her endorsement will up on the volume on those calls.

Nancy Pelosi is the best House Majority leader ever. She comes from a family of great democrats and has served her country with dignity.

Experienced politicians realize effecting change in our laws and institutions unfortunately is accomplished in incremental, smallish steps, with hiccups and setbacks and unwanted compromises all along the way.
Then there are people like Bernie, wanting a unicorn in every garage. Congress and the courts rarely birth unicorns.

I doubt it. Sanders knows it is over. He is going back to VT to assess his campaign. He will concede and endorse before the end of the week. He might still talk about influencing the party platform, and that’s fine. But I think we’ve seen the end of Sanders attacking Democrats for this election.

My son caucused for Bernie in Washington. He said he found Bernie “inspirational”. Personally, I’ve never seen the inspiration. He repeats the same message over and over again.

His concession speech will give us the chance to see if he can motivate people through his rhetoric.

Thank you, Leader Pelosi. Now, let’s all punch Donald Trump in the face in November!

Pelosi said she believed Sanders would play a positive role in influencing the party’s platform and noted “it’s not over until it’s over.”

I am a big fan of Nancy Pelosi, her abilities and her smarts. I trust she has a better sense than most anyone what’s going down. If she’s comfortable with Bernie at this moment, then I am breathing a lot easier. Thank you, Congresswoman Pelosi!! I’m so happy you’ve come out and endorsed Hillary Clinton!!

Is it a matter of comfort? Or is it akin to everyone in a bar on edge, with some mean drunk on the stool at the end challenging everyone with a menacing “Whatcha looking at?!?! You got a problem with me?!?! You don’t want a piece of me, I’m telling you right now!!”

Waiting for Bernie to concede is no different than waiting for the mean drunk to leave. You keep your distance, try to figure out what the hell will keep him marginally civil, and mostly hope ignoring him solves the problem.
