To those Pollyanna’s looking to Congress to help “control” the Trump administration: This is what you will get for 4 years.

I remember the days when Obama not wearing a flag pin on one occasion was approaching WWIII with my conservative friends and family members. Now we’ve got Donald “Let’s start a Twitter war with a Gold Star Family and claim McCain isn’t a war hero” Trump possibly colluding with the Russians to help swing the Presidential election into his favor and they’re just smirking about it like it’s nothing or completely silent.

OK, Devin, we’ll come after you now. Traitor.

How many Benghazi investigations were you involved with hmmmmmmmmm?

That’s a pretty good imitation of a deer in the headlights photo, so that’s promising.

Nunes shouldn’t be a part of any investigation.

Another stooge. For Trump? Certainly. For Putin? Maybe.

“At this time I do not see any benefit [to Trump or Republicans] in opening further investigations, which would duplicate current committee oversight efforts [we only duplicate efforts when it comes to investigating democrats] and Intelligence Community inquiries , [would require us to make findings that could be damaging, and would delay putting this issue down the memory hole],” Nunes, a member of Trump’s transition team [and protection brigade], concluded."

FIFY, Devin.

I’m old enough to remember when “looking weak” to a competing and hostile foreign power was the worst atrocity known by the GOP.

“We don’t have time! There might still be some emails out there we have to discover!”

What, like in a basement room where R’s burst in and shut down CSPAN cameras like they did during W’s term?

It’s time for the electoral college to do the right thing.

I’m afraid the term “fascists” would be the umbrella description applicable to your friends/family. In pre-fascist Germany and Italy, those countries suffered from mass unemployment, a huge punitive war debt, massive inflation, mass poverty, civil disorder, mass devaluation of their currency and massive socio-economic dysfunction. In the USA, proto-fascists like your “conservative” friends have 4.6% unemployment rate; low crime; low taxes; unprecedented access to affordable healthcare; a civil, moderate, and effective President; very low levels of military engagement; historically low levels of immigration. It’s true that inequality has increased–but at no greater rate than before. What happened was Fox News and the GOP turned itself into the Fox News Party. You have a huge percentage of white voters watching a Fascist propaganda news service that has convinced them that we live in a dystopia. Watch Fox and its fake news for years and you begin to hanker for a dictator. It’s that simple.

Ha, ha, ha. The Party of Reagan is now the Party of the Kremlin, scraping themselves before a Russian.

And Putin, too.

I guess Pooty Poot took the 80s movie “Red Dawn” to heart and decided invading America would be accomplished through GOP infiltration, rather than some podunk town in the upper midwest.

Eight investigations into the phony Benghazi scandal, and nothing for this very real, and dangerous situation, pathetic.

None of this should come as a surprise. “investigations” are partisan affairs now. No political upside no investigation.

A Congressional Investigation is conducted in public. And Democrats would play a role. Not so for a CIA or FBI investigation. Obviously the CIA and the FBI have different tools and resources so the fact their finding don’t see eye to eye is expected but will be manipulated to cast doubt. There’s also no disputing the FBI Director had more than a professional interest in the elections outcome and will do whatever it takes to keep more about that from coming to light. It’s in Comey’s interests to low ball Russian involvement.

That’s how it’s going to be. Trumps in. Another GOP’er POTUS that obtained his office by extraordinary ( extra-democratic ) means while losing the popular vote. He’ll be in control of the information we get and you can bet it’s going to be some seriously filtered shit.

Don’t expect this to change a damn thing. It reeks of a partisan cover up after the Benghazi and email duds. This is some serious shit. Russia hacked our political machinery and probably tilted an election in their favor. Can you imagine the GOP’er outrage if it was a Dem that benefited from something like that? It will take fiercely patriotic, country before party GOPers to fix this. There are none of those.

There is one part of this mess that seems to get little coverage. It might help us understand the House Intelligence Chair’s reluctance. We know the RNC was hacked too. The stolen docs from that hack are still in Wiki / Russian hands. You can bet there are some doozies in that cache. Just think back at the venom spewing around the GOP during the primaries. There must be some sweet mail in there about Trump and Cruz. Probably some revealing stuff on the Benghazi and email investigations. That stuff’s in the hands of Vlad and Julian to dump when they see fit or hold onto if folks behave. Just sayin.

You are most certainly right, unless the House Democratic Caucus starts behaving like an insurgent political party and starts taking unconventional actions.

Here’s one place to start. So, Nunes says his committee won’t have hearings on the Russian Connection. By the way, that’s what we should all start calling it-- The Russian Connection. Just for once, let’s control the vocabulary!

Now that Nunes has acted like he’s the Emperor of Disinformstion, the Democratic members of the Committee should demand a hearing. When Nunes rejects the demand or simply doesn’t respond, the Ranking Democratic member of the committee should announce that the Democrats will hold their own hearings.

The Democrats should request a Congressiinal hearing room to hold the hearings, and when the Republicans reject the request, they should takeover the House cafeteria and hold the hearings there. There will be no lack of non -governmental (and former government) experts who will be more than willing to testify.

When the Republicans try to throw them out of the House cafeteria - packed with witnesses and audience - they should announce that the “hearing” will be moved to another Capital Hill venue pre-planned and ready to go. CSPAN will cover all this. And if not CSPAN, then MSNBC and CNN, and certainly the “old press” and live streaming.

Democrats, get tough! Do what you need to do to get the story out! Don’t just sit on your well paid asses and do nothing!! Take the initiative for once!
