Discussion: House Intel Republicans Reject Trump's Claim That Nunes Memo 'Vindicates' Him

Vindication, I guess, is just a bridge too far. Even for a hyper-partisan like Gowdy, who knows a thing or two about sloppy processes himself.

If the memo doesn’t affect the need for Mueller’s investigation, then why was there such a big rush to get it out, and without simultaneously releasing the Democratic analysis? These guys simply do not want to acknowledge that they’re doing Trump’s bidding so that they can avoid getting splattered when the shit hits the fan. What a bunch of weasels. They’re going to be covered in it. Bigly.

“There is a Russia investigation without a dossier.

Red hats just popped off a few million heads. Of course that would only happen if they were capable of acknowleding truth from fiction. At least the GOP is busy fighting amongst themselves while the adults continue to try and govern.

You guys are in big trouble.
You are going to be tweeted by the POTUS, and then Junior will second the motion.

Once you’ve been compromised by Trump, you have nothing to look forward to except more humiliation.

All non-Fox interviews, except the guy who tells Chris Wallace he wants Mueller to wrap things up. Not exactly mind-changing stuff.

And it’s Super Bowl Sunday.

The real question is how DOTUS (who turned down NBC’s invitation for an interview during the game) will take advantage of all this diverted attention.

Some pundits have characterized Trump as “Nixonian.” Trump is far, far worse.

This SOUNDS good, so far as it goes. But I just don’t trust these bastards. For some reason, I read this article with the thought in the back of my mind: yeah, let Mueller complete his investigation so that we (GOP congress) can just sit on it when it’s done

Amirite? Idk…

This Come-to-Jesus moment is being brought to you by the month of November. And I was particularly struck that Gowdy listed off three particular incidents any prosecutor would use to make a case that there was an improper relationship. He’s refuting the memo and making Mueller’s case for him. Going out of his way to do it. It’s interesting.

So Matt, what DO you think? My post came up onscreen right before yours and you may not have seen it. But I definitely sense you’re saying something similar to what I was trying to get at?

I know you’re probably thinking like “bomb somebody”, but attacking Rosie O’Donnell again is just as likely.

So, I guess it’s not “sweet revenge” either?

I just watched Scaramucci on ABC. The Mooch was spinning for Trump and the rest of the panel was having none of it. Amazing. Trump is in worse shape than the Trumpsters want to believe.

What is worse, the relationship between Congress and the Intelligence Community has been damaged. Now I am not sure they haven’t been too cozy over the years, but the memo was an unforced error by Republicans that is not going to make America safer going forward. I mean after this who is going to believe anything coming out of the House Intelligence Committee is bipartisan ever again?

@cervantes It is still too soon to talk Gowdy 2020.

Yeah, totally agree with you. Drumpf is WAY more corrupt, if only because Nixon at least knew right from wrong and chose to do wrong. The Dotard doesn’t even KNOW what right/legal/ethical even is. Totally foreign concept to him. Josh actually wrote a good piece about that long time ago (last year I think?)

Well, we all knew that’d turn on him the second the Billionaires and corporations got tax cuts.

“Useful idiot” and all.

And, the important thing is done…

… the Billionaires and corporations got tax cuts.

“So you don’t agree with President Trump when he says this vindicates him in the entire Russia investigation?” Stephanopoulos asked.

Well, George, it kinda depends on what “vindicate” means.

vindicate
verb (used with object)
…
4. to assert, maintain, or defend (a right, cause, etc.) against opposition.
5. to claim for oneself or another.
6. Roman and Civil Law. to regain possession, under claim of title of property through legal procedure, or to assert one’s right to possession.
7. to get revenge for; avenge.

The Dons (jr. and sr.) seem to be stuck on meaning 7.

Some things you just can’t fix with duct tape.

Trupmski puts his faith in being shallow. It works for him or at least has so far. All the world’s a stage, and there are plenty of bit actors to pretend things are whatever the paycheck writer wants. As long as he stayed in his golden tower it was doable. Exposed to reality he comes off as exceedingly dumb, which comes from his preference for being shallow and thoughtless. None of this affects his evil spirt as every day worse follows yesterday’s bad.
