âWhen I was in the U.S. Attorneyâs office and people wanted immunity, before you agree to anything, you ask their counsel to prepare a document that says, âIf called upon as a witness, here is what I would have to say.â Iâm certain we would want a proffer like that,â he said.
"Evisceration need not be a messy job."
~Irma S. Rombauer. Joy of Cooking, 1st Editon, p. 395
Grab that shovel and keep digging.
ETA: I guess this is the metaphor in reverse.
Pleading the 5th is for testimony, not records. I donât think Flynn can ignore a subpoena for records?
And this is why itâs good to have representatives who understand the legal system and how the government works.
Put Flynn on the Weber grill to grease it up for more fatty grilling later, i.e. Donny.
I can unequivocally say that after cleaning more fish than I could count, itâs a messy job no matter what Irma says.
It is still pretty faint, almost invisible, but I do believe it is growing stronger ⌠see that over there Pennywise the President? That is the writing on the wall. Take note, it grows stronger and bolder each week.
Flynnâs companyâs records may be subpoenaed, and surprisingly they canât take the Fifth because theyâre not people. My friend.
âWhile we disagree with Gen. Flynnâs lawyerâs interpretation of taking the Fifth,â said Ranking Member Sen. Mark Warner, D.-Virginia, âitâs even more clear that a business does not have the right to take the Fifth if itâs a corporation.â
This just keeps getting better and better.
weâre going to need a bigger grill.
Hey. Thatâs my line!
No immunity soup for you!
Meanwhile we await the CBO score of the house repeal/replace bill - and more scrutiny and public discussion about how horrendous the Trump/Mulvaney budget is WaPo: The Enormity of Trumpâs Scam is Coming into View
Can a murder suspect refuse to turn over their gun for ballistics testing, based on their 5th Amendment rights against self-incrimination?
Iâm pretty sure the answer is âno.â
Why would it be any different for a suspected white collar criminal and their potentially incriminating documents?
Is there in fact any precedent supporting Flynnâs lawyersâ position that the 5th Amendment allows him to refuse to provide documents, or would this be considered a novel interpretation of the 5th?
Nance is so right and itâs what theyâre investigating, Trump, associates, as stooges. Maddow last night â they are on this. But the money trail â I fear they will do anything to wipe evidence like Treasury. The recent internet hack, the promise of more. How convenient to breach and destroy US gov agencies.
Some were mirrored in Canada?
This x1000âŚand how I reply to people that say âterm limits for everyone!â
You know, I smell a Supreme Court decision looming in the next few years that holds corporations will have such a right. âIf corporations have a First Amendment right, why not a Fifth?â (Then down the road, a Second?)
Ye gods.
The walls are closing in fast.

Flynn looks like he has no choice but to give up Trump and Pence if he wants a deal. I thought Brennanâs statement that the CIA independently collected its own evidence and used that (and not the Steele Dossier) as the basis of the criminal investigation referral to FBI was probably the worst news of the day for Team Trump. FBI may not need to give Flynn a deal (or even a favorable one) if their own direct evidence is solid. Flynn has little choice but to draw attention to how he acted on Trumpâs instructions and Penceâs tacit observance and approval. Otherwise, heâs facing big time criminal liability.
-
Brennan also created a prisonerâs dilemma problem for Trump collaborators. Now that Brennan has implied in a thinly veiled way that the FBI has evidence against all of the Trump collaborators, those traitor Trumpers will look to cut deals. Their lawyers will have to advise them that they should assume the FBI knows everything. The lawyers are duty bound to represent their client and keep him/her out of jail or get the best deal possible if that canât be avoided. They will likely all talk. I have a difficult time believing that people will do jail time for Trump. Heâs the worst mob boss ever.
-
I also suspect that Kushner is talking to the FBI (again I suspect, no proof). My gut instinct tells me that the Kushner family will not want to do jail time for Trump as Kushner Sr. already served time. Kushner is so wrapped up in money laundering and direct contacts with RU mob figures and likely government figures, and he is as brazen as Trump. Heâll talk.
-
Mueller got cleared by DOJ to fully investigate the Trump WH. If Mueller is in the house, everyone is going to talk. No one is going to mess with him or fall on a sword for Trump.
What would accelerate matters is if Quist can beat Gianforte in the MT-AL special election and/or if Ossoff can win in GA-6. Right now, I donât think the GOP health bill or budget bill would pass both houses of Congress. With that prospect looming large, I can see the political cover up wall around Trump beginning to crack.
