Discussion: House GOP's No. 2's Opponent: Who Harvests Food While You Stall On Immigration?

Discussion for article #227004

While we are waiting for you on immigration reform, who should be harvesting America’s food?

Very pithy, and precisely on target.

Raul Garcia and other farm workers do just that every day, work, while McCarthy and his ilk go on paid recess for weeks at a time. Cesar Chavez would be proud of his activism.

Hey, Garcia. Kev doesn’t give a fig about your problems because you don’t vote. Indeed, nobody votes in his district unless their name has not been scrubbed from the voter rolls, an activity that the Kern County clerk was extremely adept at up until her retirement a couple years back. Besides some of the lowest voter turnout in the state (especially among Hispanics), Kev has oil money and ag money behind him (10% of US domestic production in both spheres) that has bigger concerns. Nashville West, Western Branch of KKK and the core of Navy and Air Force weapons systems development, you apparently don’t know where you live. Remember, your head of county zoning and the county supervisors approved the zoning of the driest desert in America as “agricultural” in the midst of a 500-year drought. Kev was hand-picked and groomed by his powerful and smart predecessor Bill Thomas to deliver for specific interests in Congress, and he has. With his district now sinking due to subsidence, suing salmon, farm soils white with toxic selenium and boron salts, gas flaring and production water injection from over 40,000 fracking wells, and a legacy of actual witch trials the only things left for Kev might be a bill to rename his district Mordor (which, I, believe is also “Mordor” in Spanish) and take Boehner’s job.

Garcia’s argument is with industrial farmers.
