Of course. We didn’t like the numbers they were producing based on nonpartisan basis and… well… math… so let’s gut the CBO.
When the facts don’t fit your narrative, just change the facts, that’s how the GOP operates.
Won’t defunding the CBO interfere with the work of rewriting every CBO report to show that Republicans were right all along?
That makes no sense at all. The sources from partisan groups have worse track records. It seems an independent analysis is the best thing that can be done.
Conservatives really have lost their minds. I am sure there are some articles cherry picking about how wrong CBO has been etc. Meanwhile giving nothing to compare it to or consideration to methods and the like. Just throw the baby out with the bath water.
There used to be a Congressional advisory board for technology and science that kept members in the loop on science and the like. Newt cut that out in the 90’s for much the same reason that these clowns are talking about. They got in the way of our ideology.
How long until we can consider this administration a tyranny?
Asking for a friend…
Nowhere in Democracy 101 do they teach that ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK is a substitute for governing.
Meadows looks like the type of closeted gay man that would hold it in his mouth, till it went soft!
That’s ‘right’ you nasty little twerps. Stop funding those that are holding your asses accountable. THAT’LL fix 'em. Deplorable, despicable jerks. Patriots all.
Please please! Don’t bother us with the facts!
One more example of the Repuglican way. If you don’t like the findings of a non-partisan federal agency, simply gut its budget. First the EPA, Interior Department, Energy Department, Office of Government Ethics, and now the CBO. What’s next, the FBI, Intelligence agencies, Treasury, and who knows . . . why not cut the Supreme Court?
One more reason to believe that our country may not survive the Trump/Repuglican administration.
Oho! Because who cares about accuracy, as long as we get to mix in our biased and intellectually dishonest think tanks’ shoddy analysis, at least we’ll get closer to the truth! Right…?!
“raising fears it could be used for partisan retaliation.”
I’m confused. Why write an entire article about it being used, quite literally, for partisan retaliation (and partisan rigging) and then end it with a sentence that pretends the partisan retaliation is just a fear of the future, a mere potentiality not realized yet? This IS partisan retaliation.
Phillip Price is running against Weasel Boy ™ Meadows in the 11th in NC. Mr. Price seems like a nice fellow. I just gave him some money. Meadows can be sent out to pasture.
And if the democrats used a rulellike that, just imagine the pearl-clutching.
Meadows is a bought-and-paid-for lackey of the Kochs; should any of this be surprising? He’s just doing what he’s paid to do…
Cool! Another round of KellyAnn’s Words with Fun!
Meadows wants the CBO to be aggregators of agitators or the GOP alligators will become masticators of the CBO budgetators.
When they get a lot better at actually making their stuff stick.
They are an aspirational tyranny. Unfortunately for them, they are also exactly the kind of would-be-kings that the Framers of the Constitution had in mind when they designed a lot of the safeguards that these twerps are currently finding so inconvenient.
They’ll just outsource that too. I hear India has some whiz kids good at math, I bet they’ll work for cheap.
You mean there’s a <mumble-mumble> amendment remedy for that?
