It was never flown as the state flag.

The Confederate flag isn’t about slavery.

It’s about a state’s right to allow slavery.

There’s a huge difference! (Except, of course, to the slaves…)

or drown it in a bathtub… Grover would have fit very nicely into the secession era.

Attention!
Johnny Rebs wanna-be’s and the rest you semi-toothless, sister marrying, fat, white pasty Republican Chickenhawks read the following or get someone in your trailer park or at the local Get-N-Go read to you the following!

The so-called ā€œConfederate Flag!ā€

ā€œDesigned by William Porcher Miles, the chairman of the Flag and Seal committee, a now-popular variant of the Confederate flag was rejected as the national flag in 1861. It was instead adopted as a battle flag by the Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee.[31] Despite never having historically represented the CSA as a country nor officially recognized as one of the national flags, it is commonly referred to as ā€œthe Confederate Flagā€ and has become a widely recognized symbol of the American south.[32] It is also known as the rebel flag, Dixie flag, and Southern cross and is often incorrectly referred to as the ā€œStars and Barsā€.[33] (The actual ā€œStars and Barsā€ is the first national flag, which used an entirely different design.) The self-declared Confederate exclave of Town Line, New York, lacking a genuine Confederate flag, flew a version of this flag prior to its 1946 vote to ceremonially rejoin the Union.ā€

I would like to hear your words read verbatim on the floor of both houses of congress!

Dear GOP,
Has it come to this? Have you finally lost it? Are you now lashing yourself to the mast of the ā€˜CSS Bigotry’ and sailing headlong into the hurricane of unreasonableness?

Crickets from the ā€œIt’s a Democrat thingā€ crowd on this, I see.

Why is a Californian invested in this? Is there support in his district for the Confederacy?

Southerner here…my great great granddaddy from Tennessee…fought for the Union, there were Union regiments in certain area of the South…his brother fought for Bedford Forrest…no one region is totally responsible for racism…in the 1920s the largest Klan groups were in the Midwest…and my father, returning from Navy duty and in uniform, a North Carolinian and Native American, was traveling through Ohio in the 60s…he was forced to sit in the back of the bus.
I was raised in Charleston…those people from my city, black and white, republican and democrat…finally came together and took down that flag…long time coming…I’m proud just the same

He’s a knee-jerk conservative first, and a Californian second.

Besides, in his so-called mind, he’s just supporting the GOP base.

No, it would take re-writing the textbooks to do that.

Oh, wait.

It was initially installed 50 years ago by former Governor then Senator Hollings to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Civil War…initially it was only supposed to fly for a week, extended a year…by then no one dared remove it…there were country wide commemorations…(Gettysburg still was flying it in the 70s) I’m sure it was flown in other states for that reason…it remained flying due to racism and segregationists…

You know that douche-y thing people do when they act like they’re going to shake you hand and then pull it back at the last second?

That’s the GOP minority outreach program.

PSYCHE!

That flag is an insult to all of the UNION troops that fought and died to keep this great country together!

You can’t erase the history and tradition of UNION pride that helped make this great country what it is today!

If you want to fly a foreign flag on American soil then have at it, it will make it easier to identify the traitors and racists.
