Discussion: House GOP Conflicted On Health Law Alternative

Discussion for article #223494

What a complete farce; the ACA has improved the lives of millions of Americans, was based on GOP Governor Romneyā€™s Massachusetts health care plan and is working, but since itā€™s been introduced by a Black Kenyan Satanist, Republicans have to demonize it while simultaneously vowing to destroy it and replace it with something they have yet to even discuss, much less create.

Eric Cantor is literally the crotch pillow Gee Dumbya stuffed down his pants for ā€˜Mission Accomplished;ā€™ in other words, heā€™s a complete sham and smells like a dick.

Does thier idiocy look as craven to the rest of the country as it does to us?

Sadly far too many think like they do.

Exactly what those on the left have been saying this whole time coming to fruition. The GOP was never going to repeal the law and they were never going to come up with a replacement. ā€œIā€™ll work to repeal and replace Obamacareā€ is a quick empty phrase to round up the votes of Tea Party idiots. The ā€œsplitā€ here is nothing more than a handful of Republicans back handedly admitting they were full of shit this whole time or finally admitting they were one of the idiots that got duped.

NO - it will be a $510 ā€œvoucherā€ that can be used at the funeral home of your choice - provided it is on the list of approved funeral homes.

So the excuse is ā€œThe Senate wonā€™t act on anything we pass.ā€ Wasnā€™t that true of the previous 50+ repeal votes?

As for "the dwindling number of legislative days this " does Congress not control its own calendar? Does the Constitution prohibit them from sitting in session every single day until December 31, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas included?

The GOP is truly in a bind. There simply is no measure out there that can offer insurance to more than a very small proportion of the 8 million covered under Obamacare. Nothing in any other country, nothing in any paper from any think tank. Zero. Zip. Nada. Except for single payer of course.

That could be the answer for the GOP, single payer, but dressed up as private, non-government single payer. Have every state provide coverage for all residents and let insurance companies bid for the contractā€¦

Conflicted is code for doing nothing and pretending to have an alternative to the plan currently in placeā€¦these pretenders are taking "governs least " to disgraceful new heights.

ā€œDwindling number of legislative daysā€ is particularly a factor during an election year. The need for fundraising gets even stronger, and then there are all those hands to kiss and babies to shake before the cameras.

He is talking out his ass, of course, but the reality is Congress is going to do very little this year on anythingā€¦let alone move on replacing the ACA.

The ACA is way too useful the the republicans as a fund-raising and vote-getting symbol for them to make any substantial moves against it. If they actually pushed anything through, they would own all the resulting problems.

The GOP is torn by the following conundrum: If their constituents hurry up and die, will there be enough of them left to vote Republican in a few years? Maybe the GOP should forget the ACA alternative, and move directly to drafting Articles of Impeachment. It certainly would help the GOP to hurry up and dieā€¦

Please help us and tell Governor (of Alabama) Bentley to expand Medicaid. Hereā€™s his contact number 334-242-7100 or fax 334-353-0004ā€¦

We want to be for something.

Love this quote coming from a representative in the Party of No. Almost makes me think he gets it!

If they donā€™t already have an alternative ready to rollout, debate on and vote on in quick succession, then itā€™s too late. Boehner/Cantor already scheduled less work days this year for the House than last year and the August recess is fast approaching.

ā€œMajority Leader Cantor continues to work towards bold legislative solutions to replace ā€˜Obamacare.ā€™ā€

ā€œBoldā€?

Well, then, I guess Heye thinks Herbert Hoover was ā€œboldā€ in his efforts to deal with the Crash of '29.

My question: Is this more clueless or shameless?

As an Englishman currently touring California, I had a lengthy discussion about healthcare and the ACA with a young American couple the other night. I was pretty astonished at the lack of knowledge on display from 2 genuinely bright, nice people.

Many of the old canards surfaced - Iā€™m paying more now so other people get it for nothing etc - but they did say at the end that they would look at the issue more widely and seemed fairly convinced that the answer was single payer.

Iā€™m still struggling to understand how and why those pro ACA arenā€™t destroying the myths and scare mongering of the right?

lets see, they can vote to repeal, but not vote for an alternative. yeah, right.

ā€œHouse GOP Conflicted On Health Law Alternativeā€

So prayer and the Infamous ā€œPalin Death Campsā€ havenā€™t worked out so well for the GOP after all?

Who woulda thunk that?

It is bad form to just say ā€˜get sick and die,ā€™ so they are indeed conflicted.
