I can’t agree with you more. Democrats watch the Daily Show: Republicans take over school boards.
We would look favorably on Paul Ryan until he actually did something that needs doing, like figuring out how to get a budget passed, or the debt ceiling raised. Then we’ll turn on him like an ungrateful scorpion.
My husband has family who live in Australia and he’s visited several times over the years and has learned a little about their voting policies, and it is this: it is mandatory. If you don’t turn up, you have to explain why or face a fine, but in any case turnout is around 75%. I don’t believe there’s ever been any discussion of making voting mandatory. Nor has there ever been discussion of outlawing guns as Australia has done in the wake of mass shootings.
Behold the very crackers that are destroying our government.
Many conservatives are opposed to Jake Ryan. He is not considered trustworthy. I suspect that the real reason Jake Ryan is not volunteering is because he has a skeleton in his closet.
This happens to be the TRUTH.
And if Andrea Mitchell and her ilk do not SAY SO, then it is tantamount to a weather anchor knowing that there is a force 5 hurricane approaching and, instead, forecasting “a slight breeze”.
Ok, so how is it that 40 people have that much control that they can override the wishes of the rest oftheHouse GOP?? Is this where our ‘democracy’ is headed?
No one should trust him.
So suddenly, Paul Ryan is getting visible support from across the Republican spectrum. What are the odds that he holds out for a week, and then announces he’s running for president claiming that he is the only Republican with “broad conservative support” who can build a more inclusive “big tent Republican majorit?.” That way, he gets value from the visible support without having to deal with actually running the nut house. It might be the push that sends Trump and Carson out and if it doesn’t, it could send Bush out. He’s got national campaign experience as well and lord knows that party is looking for a savior right now.
This is not a party that wants to get work done. It’s a mob that wants to make grand statements and light fires.
Ryan is a con man with no workable ideas and no leadership in him. He has no clue how to get anyone to do anything.
They want just such a man as a figurehead so they can prop him up and set him ablaze.
So sounds like a plan to me.
FREEDOM Caucus aka: TEA BAGS
A rose by any other name IS STILL a rose.
Same bunch of 40 or so Bible thumping crazies. They’re destroying our COUNTRY.
They finally realized that they have used up all of their perceived leverage and are boxed in. The question isn’t which GOP member can successfully lead this rabble it’s who is brave enough to work out a deal with Nancy Pelosi to gain enough votes to get elected.
