even as lawmakers from both parties expressed openness to the idea.
I may have to sub-out this post to one of our regular “Dems Suck!” posters.
Way beyond stupid.
Priorities.
It’s the Fugitive Slave Act for guns.
Indeed. This is much more important for the nation than health insurance for poor kids. Besides, once this law is passed there will never be another mass shooting because some quick draw artist will take out the shooter before he can even get a round off.
What the story said both parties expressed openness to was a law banning bump stocks which never made it to the house floor because of Repub leadership. Had nothing to do with Dems. As for this legislation, I do not even consider it news as there is little to no chance that it will get 60 votes in the Senate which is what it will need to become law.
Thanks for the crx.
I may have mentioned this before but Missouri has no permit needed for conceal carry. And I know there are other states that have this too. So I’m coming from the point if they want this to pass then there must be permit, there must be training, the amount of training should be mandated and what that covers, and that instructors be certified. We had a case in St. Louis where an instructor was offering cheaper classes because he was only holding his classes for half the required amount of time. The only reason this was discovered was because some one signed up, paid up, and showed up to take the class and then proceeded to go to the sheriff’s office to get his paperwork on the same day. If the class length had been the required 8 hours then this person wouldn’t have been able to make it to the sheriff’s office on the same day.
In California, you have to apply for a permit from your own county sheriff’s office (city residents also have the option of applying to their city police department).
We are a “may issue” state, and we require fingerprinting, a background check (separate from the one that occurs with purchase of a firearm), and training (even if you are ex-military). The license is good for 2 years.
There are many states who will issue a license to virtually any adult who applies and doesn’t have a criminal record.
I wouldn’t be surprised if California’s legislature eliminated CCW licenses rather than allow out-of-state holders who may never have had any gun-suety instruction whatsoever.
The 2nd-amendment kooks from out of state would still be able to strap on any legal firearms outside their clothing. The Constitution does not require that you be allowed to bear concealed firearms.
