Well I approve it too. Beautifully done. The shift from individuals to the mass of people cheering at a rally was masterful. Setup, fist pump, boom. Makes you feel part of this big, good thing. Once people have oxygen, water, food, and some form of shelter, they want meaning. It’s a very close fifth after the first four. And being part of a movement to make progress in a humane way that honors our laws and traditions is a pretty good little meaning-provider. Bravo to all. Plus which using Katy Perry sort of says Hey Millennials, this is like Christmas dinner so yes you have to show up.
I absolutely love this ad. Perfect
Wow. Wow wowowowowowowowowow!
That’s the best political ad I’ve ever seen.
Reminds me of this one:
What a class act!!
I love this ad. I felt the ad promoted unity, hope, and a brighter day for us all.
Yeah that was a very good ad without a doubt.
Very interesting take on the historical perspective of gender bias. From the article:
In 1887, Susanna Salter was a 27-year-old housewife and member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in Argonia, Kansas. In other words, she didn’t have much in common with the Hillary Clinton of 2016. But she was about to.
Kansas women had just won the right to vote in city elections, and the WCTU endorsed a slate of candidates for local office. Although all the recommended candidates were men, this bold act was still enough to annoy some of Argonia’s male residents, who came up with a plan to make the WCTU look silly, discredit its endorsements and, they hoped, drive the group to disband in shame. They published a fake WCTU endorsement list, exactly like the real one except that Salter was named as the group’s choice for mayor. The idea was that Salter would get only a couple of votes and the people of Argonia would see that the WCTU (and, by extension, all women) had no power in politics and no place trying to grub some up. The plan backfired spectacularly when Salter was elected, becoming the first female mayor in the U.S. and one of the first women1 elected to any kind of American political office.
What a perfect campaign ad on election eve. Well done!
I noticed that piece and will have to go back and read it later. We’ll see soon enough but I think women are really, really going to be heard on Tuesday. Hispanics too. And decent people. Everyone who’s outraged. Just a hunch, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Our stories are very much the same.
I just showed my husband this ad and it brought me to tears this time.
That truly is an extremely effective ad and the perfect closing statement for this campaign.
Love this positive ad that by its very nature contrasts Hillary optimism with Trump’s very dark authoritarian Fascism.
Another ad I really like is vet Kander’s ad in MO that appeals big time to 2nd Amendmenters even though he supports every gun safety bill possible (as the NRA pointed out in its Kander opposition ad). Here is Kander’s:
Good story, thanks for the link. There is link within the story, and it’s what I’ve been trying to touch on recently, and that is why women don’t run. Until these issues are addressed, from childcare to perceptions based on gender, I don’t how women will become more ready to run.
- Women are substantially more likely than men to perceive the electoral environment
as highly competitive and biased against female candidates. - Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin’s candidacies aggravated women’s perceptions of
gender bias in the electoral arena. - Women are much less likely than men to think they are qualified to run for office.
- Female potential candidates are less competitive, less confident, and more risk
averse than their male counterparts. - Women react more negatively than men to many aspects of modern campaigns.
- Women are less likely than men to receive the suggestion to run for office
– from anyone. - Women are still responsible for the majority of childcare and household tasks.
About Kander and Blunt who’s in trouble because of trumpet. Yes!
PaN arounD anD you’ll seE that therE is nobody at Her raLLys. MediA worldwide Banker conspiracy won’t show TrUmps bigly crowdS.
That ad is going to go a long way in getting rid of Blunt—I hope!
O you’re getting pepe with it I see.
The ad I would like to buy to air on Faux Not Really News the day after HO loses the election:

This is precisely why I worked on Shirley Chisholm’s Dem run for the nomination. She knew and those of us who supported her knew, she didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning. But unless you put yourself out there, you really will never achieve your goal. She had issues she wanted to bring before the convention and the nation. To the convention’s credit, they did not stifle her opportunity to speak. I cried buckets of tears in pride watching that incredible woman speak. I still get a misty eyed after all these years. And having the chance to meet her and spend some time with her, only reinforced my opinion of her.
I believe this is what HRC has…GRIT. Never give up on your dream. The road can be very rocky, but you have to shove those rocks out of your way. When she stepped to the mic at the convention in 2008 and asked for the unanimous nomination of Obama, it was evident then, she had a backbone. One does not have to be a Hillary lover to appreciate this about her.
