Discussion: Here Are The Best Lines Froms ABC's GOP Debate

He also has the unfailing tendency to say of someone, “I think he’s a nice guy,” right before he’s about to deliver a massive insult or defamation.

It’d sure be nice if the moderators had the spine and integrity to point out, “But you just said that.”

Only watched a few minutes at different intervals and have to ask, “Did any of the candidates directly answer a question… or was it the same crap where they each babble something self serving and then dance around the topic with nothing concrete?”

Why is the fact that Trump said this not a headline even on TPM?

"I would bring back waterboarding and I’d bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding,”

Scumbag.

I am also flabbergasted that this farce continues. Not just Trump - who is astoundingly offensive and proudly ignorant - but the inane babblings of each of these pretenders. I watch these Republican debates in permanent face-palm mode. As a nation, can we really be doing this to ourselves?

You’re giving them waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much credit. This is far too cerebral. It would literally come down to “LOL STOOOPID BEEEYOTCH!!! PROLLY SUPPORTED OBUMMER DUMB FEMINZAZIII LIBTARD!!!”

There is a lot that can be done with executive orders in 100 days. The Obama people did a heck of a lot. But there are some things that are just impossible.

There is no way that anything significant can be done on social security by executive order. The only way to stop the fund running out of money is either to raise taxes or cut benefits.

The reason that the Republicans want to ‘fix’ social security is so that they can steal our pensions to fund huge tax cuts for the 0.01%.

Well, sure. It’s just that once in a while the unreality of this braying jackass running for President and actually doing well is just overwhelming. It wasn’t that long ago that all sensible observers scoffed at the idea that what’s happening could happen.

Nailed it…

There’s a deep seated pathology at work with Trump, and we’ve never seen any thing like it. But I bet you’d find it in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) which shrinks use with their patients.

…and Cruz and Jeb! have mommy issues. Ben is somewhere in the autistic spectrum, Christie has some deep-seated (ha!) body image issues. What did I miss?

Did Cruz show up for the debate?

You sure would find narcissistic personality disorder in the DSM. And here’s a [Vanity Fair article][1] with top shrinks saying Trump is absolutely a classic, textbook example. NPD folks can’t deal with the truth about themselves, which is why Trump’s boasts are so buffoonish and ridiculous—he’s constantly running in the other direction from reality.

Interesting minor point—the article says NPD was dropped from the DSM-5 but it’s in Wikipedia as being there, and from what I can tell there was a suggestion to drop it and many other disorders five or six years ago, but there was an outcry and they ended up leaving it in. Anyone who can help elucidate that, jump in.

Narcissism,Trumpet’s reason for living

millions of sane Americans are wondering: What exactly is wrong with this strange individual?

Great article. What is wrong indeed. The arms, the hands, the mouth, the combover to hide the baldness, the unleashed anger at people who have nothing while he has godzillions, the hubris compelling him to even mention dating his own daughter, the nice Jewish boy accent, and BTW he’s still stuck in the first stage of grief over his loss in Iowa.

Let me share my new favorite thing with you. Be sure to play the trumpet. Also want to share something about a film I watched call Truth, about the CBS/Rather affair in which he and others were fired for trying to tell the truth on 60 Minutes about dubya’s participation, or lack of, in the Texas air national guard and the favorable treatment he received as a pampered son. It was the moment when the mighty CBS network realized infotainment was overtaking their news gathering mission.
