Discussion: Healthcare Worker Taken To NYC Hospital To Be Tested For Ebola

Other than my Liberian aunt Monji, no. You think I’m okay then?

The NYC Health Department notice says that the patient returned within the past 21 days; Mr. James rewrote that to recently. TPM accurately and fully presented the only news released by the NYC Health Department. Things will be OK; officials are on top of this case.

Nice of them to let you on the internets.

Why don’t we wait to see if he actually has Ebola before reporting it?

Saw from an article elsewhere that this person is with MSF/Doctors Without Borders. So, yes, a large chance of having been exposed. I also assume said person has been taking more than reasonable precautions on their own, because MSF doesn’t mess around.

“Initially, Spencer contacted officials at Doctors Without Borders
Thursday morning to report a fever, complying with the organization’s protocols. “As per the specific guidelines that Doctors Without Borders provides its staff on their return from Ebola assignments, the individual engaged in regular health monitoring and reported this development immediately,” said Doctors Without Borders spokesman Tim Shenk in a statement.Spencer called 911 after quarantining himself and was taken from his apartment in Upper Manhattan, WCBS reported. An EMS crew, wearing specialized suits, picked him up at around noon.”

Chuck Todd warned us about this kind of reporting.

Yes, that Chuck Todd.

Sounds like they’ve got this covered.

Makes the Texas hosptial look worse by comparison. They could have gotten help/advice needed to deal with this.

It could have been so much worse. I hope they’re incurring some of the costs of treating those nurses. Seems only fair.

The individual was transferred to Bellevue by a specially trained team equipped with hazmat suits.

What a bunch of wussies. In Texas, medical personnel treating people with Ebola just wear scrubs and cowboy hats.

Eustace should be kept far, far away from any Ebola victims, because there were definitely some nose and mouth fluids getting spewed as I choked on my coffee, and then laughed/snorted/gasped uncontrollably for a minute or two – not to mention the not inconsiderable danger of leaking some even less desirable bodily fluids in the process. Seriously, that wasn’t just nearly-peed-myself funny, it was nearly-shit-myself funny! So Eustace, it’s probably just as well that they’ve got you sequestered away at a FEMA camp – you’re a public health menace!

Travel ban on Texas? The only place in the US with a confirmed death & infection from ebola. Did not the secessionist potentate of Tejas, Rick Perry keep the citizens of the Republic of Texas safe from ebola? Hmmm…if Texas is “Like a whole other country” then perhaps it should be treated as such.
