Discussion: Head Of NFL Criticizes Trump’s ‘Divisive Comments’ On Protesting Players

Is writing a speech an “official action” within the meaning of the law? Because if so it does kinda seem that Miller and company might be on the edge of a felony.

People who actually win a lot aren’t tired of the winning yet:

U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

A black guy who advocates for civil rights is a son of a bitch who should get fired.

A neo-Nazi who advocates in Charlottesville for white supremacy might be one of the good guys who just likes historical statues. .

I wonder what the difference might be.

Forgive me… but I’ve been pushed past my limits…

IN WHAT WAY IS KNEELING FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM MORE DISRESPECTFUL THAN COMMITTING TREASON AGAINST THIS NATION?

I am sick and tired of the press reporting comments like this without pointing out that the Lying Orange Shit-Stain is a treasonous agent of a hostile foreign power, I mean really, shouldn’t the press be required to put his comments in some kind of context.

  1. If you would like enforced patriotism, please move to North Korea.
  2. If you would like enforced religiosity, please move to your selection of Middle Eastern countries.

Insulting Kap’s mom? Huh.

Pretty bizarre on-the-fence NFL response today, too:
" . . . lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players . . ."

  1. Wrong order, doof. Try:
Respect for all of our players,
    the game, & the NFL.

People first, not corporations/money-making machines.

I knew I was gonna wake up to a fun Friday surprise! Excuse me while I get into my red & white, it’s the Stanford home opener today and I need to do extreme amounts of tailgating to get over this latest affront to our constitutional democracy.

Roger Goodell likely had to be forced into making a statement at all. Remember, he’s the face of the owners, period. And the owners collectively do not want Colin Kaepernick on their teams. Hell, at least 1/3 of them are starting inferior QBs each week!

^ That is a good indicator re: the overall health of a players union.

Whenever Donnie fantasizes about someone (with whom he disagrees or dislikes) being fired, he gets a bit damp in his nether regions.

The NFL is an interesting case study, majority black players and the majority of white players are from the racist South. Lot’s of between the lines stuff, full blown racists forced to commune with black players…and the coaches you know have to be the worst of them all.

If you don’t believe me, look at the tweet storm it’s generated among BLACK players, white players are being conspicuously silent. I would hope black players from all the teams would be in touch and maybe do a league wide protest this weekend, but I’ll probably be disappointed.

I do not much care for the NFL, or professional sports in general, but DT ought to be careful about his criticism being 70% of the players are black, and seems to me have a legitimate beef.

Then again there is his base.

So, now we havw DOTUS for POTUS. Cannot keep track of the acronyms!

Now tell your owners to stop blacklisting Kaepernick, Roger.

Not really.

Notice how Goodell (who is a moderate Republican) framed his response to those comments. While I applaud him (and by default McCarthy) for saying something about last night, the folks that perhaps have more clout and need to say something are guys like Jerry Jones, Bob Kraft, Dan Snyder, the Haslam family (the Browns owners), the Bowlens (Bronco owners), etc.

Right now, I’m willing to wager that maybe the Rooneys, Jed York and Paul Allen (Seattle’s owner) say something about ‘45’'s Alabama comments.

As for Kaep, Blaine Gabbert was worse than him in '16 and last year (plus his horrendous Jacksonville resume) should have dried up any work for him.

Gabbert is currently backing up Carson Palmer in Arizona.

thank you @doobieibood for mentioning Jed York.

Yeah why haven’t the NFL owners spoken out on this especially the ones that donated money to trumps campaign

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have gone on record and stated that they believe that Kaep needs to be playing football in the NFL.

“heritage”

Trump certainly speaks the racist language well.

Just waiting on KD (who had a previous twittah beef with Britt McHenry over whether to go to a Trump WH) to join in.

Heritage is exactly why some players kneel. It is not lost on us that Trump brought this up in Alabama, a place with a heritage of slavery, Jim Crow, lynchings and currently, voter suppession. Its just what one would expect a white supremacist to say. All he left out was to add “we’ll send your ass back to Africa.”
