I don’t recall voter fraud ever being a valid concern, until Republicans made it that way.
Let’s prevent 10,000 people from voting to ensure that every vote is legal!
Ahhhh, the simpletons with simple minds. It must be so easy being a dipshit.
Every ballot or application rejected for a bad signature should have a criminal case opened. It doesn’t since they are actually valid signatures. Why aren’t they being treated as vote related crimes if they are treated as false?
Where does the burden of proof lie? With the accused? Or with the accuser?
Since Republicans are denying people their constitutional right to vote, they should have their constitutional rights revoked until they fulfill their burden of proof.
Who screens the income tax checks at the state dept of revenue, and how do I get my refund when I don’t think my signature was legal?
I understand the state of Georgia is chock full of handwriting experts. Maybe all the other states could get a bulk rate on analysis services.
My guess is the “accuracy” of the signature is very subjective. If it’s from a democrat, an urban voter, a black, latino, or student it has to be an exact match to what’s on the registration form. If it’s from a rural white voter or an elderly person, why it can be whatever as long as it’s “close enough”.
What is the definition of a matching signature to vote in the states such as Georgia and Kansas? If you are a person of color and soon to be, a Democrat. In the cynical thinking of Kemp and Kobach, there is no such thing. In their minds, no two signatures are ever alike if you are not in the fold.
officials compared her daughter’s cursive handwriting on the oath with the one on her driver’s license, where she printed her name.
I can’t believe they accepted the printed name on the driver’s license to register in the first place.
Printed name signatures are not legally binding at least in my state, and yet they stopped teaching cursive in public schools here. Go figure.
Trump wants to go after all fake voters with the full
might of the law. Once again, he doesn’t realize he’s not the boss of everything and voting laws generally are enforced at the stage level because generally they are state laws, Bush v Gore aside. What about bringing the full might of the law against those who obstruct the right to vote: Kemp and Kobach are first in a long line.
Stopppng people from voting apparently trumps the right to vote,
Nobodys signature matches ALL THE TIME . Even when you sign a check , the bank should ask for it to be cancelled because your signature doesnt match .
This. There seems to be this huge gulf between “This signature isn’t good enough to let you vote” and “This is a false signature that indicates abesntee-ballot fraud.” They should put up or shut up.
I live in Oregon, and in 2016 my daughter’s signature for her vote (all mail-in) was rejected. Distressing because it was her first election, and her signature was fine. But she was notified 2 or 3 weeks after the election. This year she carefully examined her driver’s license (probably the comparison signature) and made sure the signatures were alike if, not identical, on the ballot. The whole situation is a manufactured crisis that, of course, hurts democrats.
Voting is the ONLY activity where exact matches of a signature is checked. Hell, most people’s signatures change. If you’ve never had to sign paperwork for a mortgage, you don’t know how many times you have to sign documents in a short period of time, and if the mortgage company checked each of my wife’s or my signatures, we’d be living in our car. Why do states that require ids also exact match?
Republicans want to limit everyone’s Constitutional right to vote. They have built their party and power on suppressing your right to vote. Face it, it’s not like only Democrats have signatures that change, they want to use laws subjectively to deny people the right to vote, and then hide behind those laws. making people go to court to prove their provisional ballot should count is an abuse of the courts and election system.
Unfortunately, I doubt that all this is the work of “simpletons.” Rather, these efforts to suppress, inhibit, and otherwise deny voting rights to legitimate voters, especially those likely to vote Democratic, are deliberate and shameless acts of criminality by Republican officials. They no longer even try to hide it.
I just saw a report that the all-GOP County Commission of Calvert County, Maryland announced that all public transportation throughout the county would be suspended on election day. Apparently public outrage forced them to reverse their decision.
This kind of criminal crap has got to be stopped and tomorrow is the next step in doing so. Vote these corrupt bastards out of power!
