Discussion: Haley Timed Exit To Avoid Appearance Of Leaving In Response To Midterms, Russia Probe

Imagine that, a woman leaving the Trump administration because she can’t advance her career there, and Trump being irritated at a woman’s political ambitions.

Hard to believe, right? I mean, it’s almost like Haley can discern the obvious.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight! I’m going to stick with “The wolves are at the door so now I have to cash in on K-Street” theory…

Her letter is dated the day after Trump attacked Dr. Ford from the podium. Her official announcement is the day after Kavanaugh was sworn in. Her decision to quit is about 1 week after the UNGA laughed at Trump and after polls show how poorly regarded the US is in the world. There were lots of reasons for her to quit, but I think the main ones are: 1. she sucked at her job, 2. there’s no fixing or cleaning up after Trump, 3. she’s attempting to buy time to rehab herself (though her fawning praise will be a negative in future campaigns), and 4. she had a reaction to the Dr. Ford allegations which suggests that #metoo means something to her. She’s also reportedly $1 mill in debt, but that wouldn’t determine the pre-mid-term timing of the departure.

I know a lot of people think she’ll be a strong GOP candidate in 2024 or in 2020 (if Trump is forced to resign or is so weakened by Mueller and a worsening economy that he draws challengers), but I view her as quite damaged politically.

Her letter is dated one day after Khashoggi disappeared. She may well have known about the intercepted intelligence, and wanted to get out of the way immediately, suspecting the worst.

Then why did she praise Kushner? Kushner is responsible for giving MBS the sense of license to do something this brazen.

I think we’ll probably be hearing in a few months that Haley got a Hope Hicks-like offer from “New Fox”.

Good point. I still think “hidden genius” is some kind of slam.

The Republican Party nominating a female candidate for President. Right. Okay.

Makes sense to me. First nominate someone with small, feminine hands; if that works out, nominate a woman.

That was my initial analysis as well. She doesn’t want to get tainted with what looks like a potential bloodbath in Nov and later.

It preserves her “doing right by the party” and name recognition without any trump funk on her reputation.

IMO anyone who works for Trump is “damaged politically.”

It would make sense. Imagine how Kushner would be viewed among diplomats. And nobody says so-and-so is a genius but nobody knows it. It’s most plausible as a sarcastic remark phrased just cleverly enough that you could innocently deny any facetiousness.

because she wanted to avoid appearing as though she were leaving the Trump administration in response to potential negative outcomes of the midterm elections or any other negative news

To the 42 senate Republicans that are not standing for election this year… If you follow Nikki’s lead and start making moves to get out of town now…you can save yourself a bit of pain and avoid having to sit in judgement over these scumbags that sold our election to Russia.

Best thing they could do. IOKIYAR. They were swooning for Herman Cain, Ben Carson, and if I recall correctly somebody named Palin or something.

The theory that Lindsey Graham is slotted to replace Sessions as AG after the midterms has a logical corollary that Haley is slotted to replace Graham. If true that would help explain her ongoing obeisance to the Trump crime family including Kushner.

Awww… The look in their eyes. The holding of the hands…

Yeah, perhaps they can dig up Phyllis Schlafly.

Even 4 years dead… she would be preferable to Trump

What about the ethics violations and the watchdog group? That seems the simplest explanation.

This was the thought I had.

Also, the Kashoggi disappearance seems like a possible explanation as well. From Josh’s post this morning, if the lead bears out that US intel ops knew that MBS was onto Kashoggi and we didn’t do anything that’s a pretty bad look for anyone that knew and didn’t act.
